M and S for sure. Reasonably priced, very good and not tested on animals.
All cosmetics/toiletries sold in M & S are not tested on animals apparently.
As I have got older my eyelashes have become much shorter and much more sparse.
I am looking for a mascara that will accentuate my eyelashes but not make me look like I have those ridiculous fake lashes that the young ones wear. I don't wear much makeup anyway and have worn it even less since Covid.
I used to use Rimmel and prefer a thinner brush than a thick bushy one. I am not sure about the mascara with fibres in it as they always seem to shed
I was looking at the Be Fabulous Forever mascara - which is for us older ladies - but the reviews were not that good and the brush was really thick.
I don't want to pay a fortune and would prefer brown black to black.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

aonk I use UKlash serum and have been asked by two friends if I’ve had extensions done. Not cheap but we’ll worth it in my opinion
Superdrug have a good variety and there’s usually a make up consultant there. Also M & S have staff who can advise. I use Rimmel Scandal eyes volume on demand (red tube)
A few years ago I read an article on best beauty products and one recommendation for mascara was Lash Princess, it was stocked in Wilko and was less than £4. At the time I used Max Factor mascara which was quite expensive so I gave Lash Princess a try. It was very good and I have used it ever since; when Wilko had stock problems I got it from Amazon. I briefly tried Benefit’s ‘They’re Real’ mascara but it was about £16 and no better than Lash Princess.
I used Max Factor 2000 Calorie Mascara for years, then had a break and when I tried it again it was nowhere near as good as I'd remember it being.
Or is it an age thing, sparcer lashes etc. I know my eyebrows have somewhat diminished due to vigorous plucking over the years!
I now dye my eyelashes and brows, find it much easier not to have to worry with Mascara etc
Boots own 2-3 pounds then even out with an older dried out wand .. brilliant
I highly recommend UK lash eyelash and eyebrow serum. They are a expensive but well worth it in my opinion. No mascara is going to help if your starting with smaller lashes. They have 10% discount on first order and sometimes they have 20% sales. One tube lasts me around 6+ months.
I use two (not at the same time!) that are excellent but are chalk and cheese.
The first is Dior's 'Diorshow' which really elongates and thickens lashes without clumping. The downside is it retails at £33.00.
The second is the Poundshop's own. I have 'delicate' skin and can react to many cosmetics but just for a laugh really, thought that I would try this mascara. I was just amazed when I didn't react to any components (eyes would water and the stuff would just peel off, not a good look!).
This mascara (but one has to use several coats) did almost the same as the Diorshow one I had been using. I hope that you all won't rush out and buy it now, leaving none in stock for me!
I wish there were more colours than just black, such as blue, teal, burgundy or violet. Not everyone hankers after the false look. I would rather achieve the enhanced natural look.
And preferably waterproof too
Lancôme is the only one I have ever found that does not run, so I too suggest it. It may seem dear but it lasts for ages.
I gave up in my youth trying to wear mascara - one blink and I had black stripes down my specs!
Primelash not cheap but does it for me
I love Benefit tinted primer. I only use this now good coverage does not smudge and no need for mascara! Not the cheapest but lasts for ages and doesn't go clumpy and the little brush is excellent at getting down to the lash root.

Kiko Milano mascaras are best for me.
Another vote for lash growing serums, I was astonished to find that they actually work! Boots and Amazon have a range but best not to go for the cheapest.
An eye surgeon told me that the magic ingredient is something that is used for patients with glaucoma. It turned out to be a useful side effect.
I can recommend Eyeko for skinny brushes and their fab mascara as I’m a mascara girl myself. Also YSL if you’re flush, this is my favourite one but Mabelline are also exellent.
Clinique for me …… the one in the dark green tube. I bought a Look Fabulous Forever one and it was very watery and I kept getting splodges on my face.
Poundland also do lovely lipsticks and nail varnishes
Marydoll
SachaMac
I’ve tried many but my current favourite is Clinique Lash Power in black. I assume they it in brown.
They do and brown black, which I use.
Try the Look Fantastic or Feel Unique sites for good prices.
Another vote here for Clinique Lash Power.
It isn't cloggy, lasts well (even on hot, sweaty days) but comes off at the end of the day with just water. My eyes don't like creamy or oily removers so this is a bonus for me. When it is new it can go on a little too thickly but I stroke a clean mascara wand through to separate my lashes. The brown is quite dark but not too harsh.
It's not cheap (£24 in Boots) but as Marydoll says there are online stores selling it for less. I got some through the Boots £10 Tuesday offers.
I also really like the effect of Bobby Brown Smoky Eye but it contain ingredients which inititally make my eyes water and I find it is more difficult to remove. You may find your eyes are less sensitive so it could be good for you and it isn't quite so expensive. I believe most Bobby Brown concessions will put some on your eyes for you to try.
I use Mavala serum on my eyelashes and to my great surprise after about 3 or 4 weeks of using it at night, my lashes are noticeably longer. Can’s say that about the lower lashes though.
I had seen an ad online for mascara made specifically for older women. The word Prime was used in the ad and the item I got was very inexpensive (in US dollars) and I got two for that price. It wasn't the "Prime Prometics" brand item, (mascara for older women and a pricier product). I wound up getting the more inexpensive one and when I first used it I was pretty amazed at the result. It stayed on very well but was a little hard to get off even with oil, even with soap and water so keep that in mind. But the one that I am going to try next is Prime Prometics and is pricier. Both of these can be found on Amazon. I Expect the name brand to be a little better than the one that I got but if you check Amazon you'll see both and you can decide for yourself. I have to tell you the off brand was pretty amazing with just one swipe!
I love Benefit mascara but recently bought one in Primark to try. It’s super and very reasonably priced!
I've used Avon for many years and the prices are better than the high street store I used to buy from. Lots to choose from and I've always been pleased with every order. I have a rep, but you can buy online.
I use a L’Oreal one called Million Dollar Lashes, Balm Noir. It was recommended a couple of years back in GH magazine. It’s lovely and doesn’t make your eyelashes ‘crunchy’ !
As for eyebrows I’ve recently had mine microbladed, expensive but Oh ! The joy of not having to pencil them in every day as I used to.
I justify the cost by thinking of how much I’d spent over the years on pencils, powders, waxes etc., and would still be buying now. Best thing ever !
