Dressing gowns

Mum likes the button up ones, she gets them from Damart.
I have a normal fleecy belted one from Sainsburys about ten years ago which refuses to die, but I love it and could happily live in it given the chance.

Cyberjammies are worth having a look at on line. I have a dressing gown of theirs.

Butterick has just brought out a dressing gown pattern with a zip. I just wanted to pass the details on as I am aware that the pattern I recommended went out of print a while ago.

Thanks all. I'd never considered Slenderella as nothing about me is "slender" but I'm sending for one of the dressing gowns for the winter and hopefully will add one of the cotton ones when Spring comes round.

I bought a fleece button through Slenderella a week or so ago which I am wearing. There is nothing wrong with it except for me it is too thin, more for Spring or Autumn. I like one on and one in the wash so I am awaiting the delivery of a different make, the name escapes me, today. I hope it is warmer.

I do not like zipped ones as the zip for me gets stuck, hence button through are easier.

I found them really comfy and long-lasting. Only trouble is they are not button through.

Try searching housecoats instead of dressing gowns.

I bought a long dressing gown with a zip from Cotton Traders. It looks very nice on but I have terrible trouble doing the zip up. It's so annoying, first thing in the morning, that I've taken to wearing my old wrap around dressing gown! (I know I should have returned it but it's too late now.

I’ve just found some nice looking ones doing a ‘button through dressing gown’ search on Google. Reasonable prices, Debenhams (online only) and Cotton Traders plus others.

David Nieper do brilliant velvet type fabric Kaftans. They are machine washable and something you could change into when you want to relax without looking as if you are ready for bed. I buy one every two years or so but they don't actually wear out. They sound expensive but I wear mine every day of the year when I get up. I am 5ft 1in. I have no noticeable waist, but these kaftans look reasonably elegant and dressy. So price per wear is very little.

Last suggestion re pyjamas. These are apparently very soft and light - and a snip in comparison!

Just the thread I needed! I too am looking for a warm cosy dressing gown, preferably a tie waist one so I can wrap it round snugly. Some great suggestions I will follow up on as I simply can’t wear my ‘old faithful’ much longer. It’s full of holes and minus a pocket!

Bonmarche online do zip up dressing gowns which are an improvement on button through ones that I used to have. They don’t leave a gap and are extremely comfortable when curled up on the sofa. Good luck with your search

Nervous to recommend this because it's somewhat pricey. Having said that I've been wearing it for the last twenty five years and still feel toasty and like a million dollars in it.
