Covering wrinkled arms

Due to health problems I’ve lost a lot of weight and hate how my body looks now. Lots of crepey wrinkled skin. How do I cover my arms without getting too hot in the summer. Looking for tips now so that I can buy a new wardrobe 🙂

I’m 71. I have saggy skin on my upper arms (and other places!). I don’t care. If you don’t like it don’t look! There are things I care about but this isn’t one of them.

I find cold shoulder tops are perfect for hiding the wrinkly bits but are still very summery.

I do know a little of something about this since I’m starting to show some wrinkles due to aging. Personally I think it’s best to cover up somewhat rather than show your age by exposing everything by wearing tank tops/camis out in public when you are in your 70’s. 🙄

I would stay away from layering a cardigan over another short sleeved top - too hot!!

What I do now is find tops that are styled with loose arm designs - nothing tight from shoulder to elbow (or below). That gives your arms freedom of movement and AIR! (some people refer to them as having bar-wing styling; it can be a very attractive fit for many women.) Your neckline styling can be scooped, v-necked, etc. Lightweight summer fabric. No two layers!! Cool 😎

These cute summer tops are out there. Give it a try and don’t be sweaty.

After open heart surgery I had a long scar down my chest. I was self conscious and bought tops to cover it up. After a while I forgot about it and nobody seemed to notice when it wasn’t covered up. I think you will be more conscious of your arms than other people. Enjoy yourself rather than bothering what other people think.smile

You are beautiful.
But. If you want to hide your arms. I agree with the rest. A nice lightweight cotton open shirt can look very stylish. Roll up the sleeves or buy a three quarter sleeve shirt. Wear a vest top under it. You’ll stay cool and look great.

Sorry your weight loss is an effect of health problems. Mind you do not dehydrate - my hands look more wrinkly when I have not drunk enough. Only you know your skin, but try to keep it in good condition, maybe exfoliate (black mitts) and lotion if needed. And 'what they said' too. We'll all be covering up if the summer is hot!

I’m not being funny , and I completely understand how you feel having been there myself for years. But I’ve decided recently ( I’m 67) that my comfort is more important than how I
Look! So I have a shawl , which I ditch as soon as I can!

I’m glad you’ve brought this up Wilma. I too have lost a lot of weight due to health problems. I’ve always been quite fit and worked out. I’m 74yrs now, but feel I’ve really gone down hill since Christmas.
I dread the summer coming and having to flash my arms. All the rest can be covered up.
So I know exactly how you’re feeling. 💐

Try a glass jar of coconut oil from your supermarket. Take it home and put the jar in warm water about halfway up. Wait a few minutes and it should turn from a hard paste to oil put your hand in and get some and plaster it over your entire arms. Then have a cup of tea for it to sink in an voila it will look about 80 to 90 Per cent better. It does not stain clothes smells very coconutty, get past that. It looked very good and it works. Let me know how you get on Barbara from Australia.
