Are you a jacket person?

I'm not! However hard I try and however many I buy, I just dislike wearing jackets.

I have never worn a jacket since I last wore a school blazer.

Am I the only one here?

I love brightly coloured loose fitting jackets. In fact a lot of my clothes are bright colours. I found in my wardrobe recently a padded Chinese style jacket in blue I must start wearing it.

I am tempted to buy next summer a loose fitting jacket from One Hundred Stars. They are based on Japanese flowers, birds etc. it would be for an evening. Not that I go out much in the evening.

Recently my DH bought me this lovely reversible Mac designed by people with learning or health issues I love it.

What a lovely mac. I'd be interested to know more about the people who make them. Do they have a website please?

MissAdventure Sat 07-Sept-24 16:36:06

Ooh that is lovely. smile

I’ll see if I have still got the details. They are made in the US. Because it was a special present from DH he paid far more than I would have ever paid. I’m more if a charity shop person. It was in the sale at £120.00 I know outrageous 😳

NanKate Sat 07-Sept-24 21:09:27

PS we bought it at a Craft Fair.

kittylester Sat 07-Sept-24 21:11:23

But you're worth it kate.

NanKate Sat 07-Sept-24 22:23:07

Thanks Kitty.

The US company who makes them is as follows
www.ubuclothing.com
You could email them if you want to know the U.K. company who sells them at Craft Fairs. We bought my Mac at Stonor Craft Fair in Oxfordshire.

I like jackets, but not the puffa-type ones that make people look like the Michelin Man. I had a quilted cotton one which I've worn to ribbons, but can't find anything similar. That's a great mac, Kate.

Thanks gulligranny I will show it to you in person at our next meet up 👍.

I love jackets and I too have given some away that I’ve never seen worn by the recipient.
I love this but I’m not paying £1,200.

That’s very pricey! Not very flattering either……

Well I thought I had found my dream jacket. Went to try it on, found I’m halfway between two sizes and it was too long in the body, so I dream on! It was lovely - good material, nice detailing. Broke my heart to walk out without it. The quest resumes😩!

Love my jackets, not tailored, one denimfor summer. Like to have layers in winter, jacket easily removed and can finish an outfit nicely.
As for "body warmers" can't abide them, body warm, arms freezing. For gardeners only in my view.

Gilets and classic Barbour's are the best inventions. Not quite the thing for weddings, funerals etc, but then......why not?

downtoearth Sun 08-Sept-24 09:25:36

Love jackets , have denim in blue, beige , white , green.
Biker jackets in suede and leather different colours.
Longer jackets with ruched cuffs for jeans etc
Boucle jacket white navy lovely with jeans and a few others.
Hate coats, but puffy wet weather sort a must with no car a necessity unfortunately.

NanKate thank you.

I think jackets make jeans for example look classy, and are very fashionable this year. M&S have lots on their website.
I loved a blue velvet jacket that I wore to work in the 80s, and I’m still a fan of velvet jackets but they’re not fashionable now….but M&S have a blue one!

When it comes to baked potatoes I'm definitely a jacket person. Otherwise not so much. I own one "smart" jacket. It was my mum's and I wore it to her funeral with a scarf of hers too, in remembrance.

Where I now live, every kind of coat is called a jacket. I think of jackets as formal wear and, partly because there has been little need for formal wear in my life (or I've achieved it without a jacket), and partly because I prefer woolly jumpers when it comes to keeping warm, my jacket-life has been and will remain minimal.

Anoraks though (smart ones natch!)..... and duffle coats.....

Baggs Sun 08-Sept-24 12:22:07

PS I don't care what the fashion is. I wear what I think suits me and what I like whether it's fashionable or not. Though, to be fair, I don't usually have the faintest idea what is fashionable.

I guess, though, it’s whether you want your jeans to “look classy”. Probably to the disdain of many, I have never aimed to look classy! I love clothes, but I like to feel comfortable, and to wear things that suit what I’m doing daily. Maybe depends where you live too - we’re a bit ‘out in the sticks’.

I like what Pinterest calls a ‘boho’ look - from being a hippy student in the sixties I guess……

Farzanah Sun 08-Sept-24 13:43:00

I love that look LucyAnna
Ex hippy here too, but your look is too stylish for “hippy” me thinks.

I love leather jackets.

I really like Womens Brown Suede Jackets

DD2 loves that One Hundred Stars range - almost kimono like.
She’s a wheelchair user and finds they finish off her look, without adding extra bulk (b*ggers to iron though!).
