Dressy shoes that don’t hurt!

I am trying to think ahead to a couple of Christmas (sorry to mention the C word!) events I am going to.
I still like fashion and have some nice little (not so little these days!) black dresses that I can wear, but just the thought of wearing my lovely Clarkes, kitten heeled sling backs makes my feet hurt!
They are low but I just find them too uncomfortable.
I have looked online for ideas for ‘dressy’ block heeled sling backs but they are either mega expensive, frumpy or look too painful to wear.
Anyone have any suggestions please?!

If you find expensive ones that you like (eg. Sole Bliss) and discover the size you need you can usually find someone is selling them "worn once" after buying for a wedding.

I know my size now in Sole Bliss - so if I need dressy shoes again then this is what I'll be doing.

If you sell shoes that have been worn once only you can bet your boots they’re damn uncomfortable.
I really don’t think that for older people there is such a thing as dressy shoes you can wear all day.

I rock around in Fitflops (about £100) but wear Arche (don't ask - French) for best!

Ho got comfort every time , black ballet pumps with your little black dress?

Flaxseed Wed 18-Sept-24 17:27:23

I had never heard of Sole Bliss. There’s a lovely pair on their website but a bit out of my price range and not sure if I fancy second hand shoes (apart from shoes and underwear I am very much a ‘preloved’ fan!)
Shelf life I am so short I need a slight heel wink
I will look at FitFlops. Thanks

I find that sandles with a heel are much easier on the feet. Obviously if you are walking to the function you may have to change your foot ware when you get there

Sketchers for me, but now have seen a pretty pair black flats with some sparkle, just right for party time, but no not in my size, they think everyone shoe size is 6 or less, the search goes on.!!

Rieker have some lovely styles, with small heels not too expensive and Think shoes too but they seem to be c£200. Gasp!
I buy good shoes in sales or in the Clearance shop.

Could you not wear them around the house, say half an hour each day?

I have 2 pairs of M &S wide fit suede loafers with a flat bow (1 pair black and 1 navy) bought when I needed “funeral” shoes earlier this year. I had plantar fasciitis at the time and dodgy knees so comfort was paramount but my usual trainers would not do.
I wore the black ones all day, including a lot of standing around before the service and at the wake and can vouch for their comfort. Low heel (nearly flat) but dressy enough.

I have looked through all of the websites suggested to no avail, but just found a pair that fit every criteria!
Got quite excited until I saw that the sizing starts at a 5 shock
I am a 4 confused

Freya5 I have Sketchers flip flops, sandals and lace up trainers for work.
I love them all! But, sadly nothing suitable to go with my not so little black dress!

Please tell me your price range max?

I'm queen of shoes -- I'll search my favourites.

Oreo I have "problem feet" and wore my new Sole Bliss all day (well 10am to after midnight) with no problems.

I recently bought some Vionic sandals which are also super super comfy.

They were recommended by someone on this website ages ago..

Arche are brilliant! I also love Tracey Neuls shoes which are slightly quirky and gorgeous. They're horrendously expensive but I've never ever had any that were uncomfortable. I only buy them in the sales and a couple of times on eBay, knowing that my size would work fine.

Have a look at Vivaia, not the cheapest but the sales are quite good.
I bought a pair recently, so comfortable!

Really like the look of Arche shoes and have 2 pairs of suede ones but found the dye comes out of them onto my feet and one pair have now developed white marks on the suede which i can't get rid of, won't be buying them again.

Gabor Callow; I have 3 pairs in different colours!

Found a few examples on a google search of comfortable dress shoes for women. Here’s an orthopaedic example, reduced to £49.95 and in size 4. (I hope the link works).
