Animal print, yes or no?

I love animal print and I have seen so many shops with leopard print in this year but I'm not sure how on board I am with it, what are your thoughts? hmm

Just reminded me of a pair of shoes I had, once.

They looked plain black, but when the light caught them, they were iridescent, and looked like fish skin.

I loved those shoes!!!!

If you dont have anthing animal print you could probably borrow a scarf or pick up one in a charity shop or on one of the second hand platforms. You dont need to wear an entire outfit. Remember that animal print comes in a wide range of colours and patterns. You could go for something a bit more conservative such as a snakeskin or tortoise effect.

I sell vintage jewellery and accessories and (quality) animal prints are tremendously popular with my American customers. I have a long wish list of items some of them are searching for.

I found a long forgotten scarf yesterday, in such a pretty colour, with silver, and faded looking leopard skin running through it. smile

I used to have a lipstick which was silvery and a similar faded pink and was always told I looked "well" when both.

I have a dressing gown and a couple of Next fleece tops. I wear these for comfort rather than because they are animal print. I certainly don't think they look tarty.

I love it. Got a blouse and slip on shoes with leopard print both new from a charity shop. Asda had jeans with the print last week when I was in. Saw a woman wearing them, very nice.
Sorry for your sisters loss Kirkcubbin, beautiful girl very sad.

NotAGran55 -some lovely outfits there - I love the photo of Queen Letizia of Spain from 2013. It would be hard to see her in that blouse and find it "tarty".

I think it can be great for details.

I don't do any prints, just stick to block colours. I like to see them sometimes in catalogues but would never buy.

And I'm sorry but I think a leopardskin pattern looks tarty.

I love an animal print dress and have a couple from Primark .
If you love the look -go for it .

How horrendous that your friend's beautiful and young sister was murdered .
My sincere condolences . 💐

Many years ago, I read that a famous fashion designer (can't remember who now) said that animal print and denim will never disappear from the fashion world.

I loathe animal prints and can't understand why they're so endlessly popular. But, as someone said above, it wouldn't do if we all liked the same things.

BlueBelle Tue 24-Sept-24 22:06:37

I don’t like it at all would make me feel I was wearing a skin, well it is a mock-up of a skin isn’t it and I just always associate animal prints with killing animals
It’s like when women used to wear those awful fox furs with the head hanging down ugh ugh and snake skin shoes !! Awful stuff and although animal print isn’t their real skin it’s a mock up of it
Not for me at all

NotAGran55 Tue 24-Sept-24 22:03:03

Ooh I wonder if we are dressing gown twins MissInterpreted?
I 🤎 mine.

MissInterpreted Tue 24-Sept-24 21:45:35

It'd be a boring old world if we all liked the same things. I'm sitting here proudly wearing my leopard print dressing gown. Tarty, cheap or ghastly? Who cares??

Blossoming Tue 24-Sept-24 20:57:49

I would never wear animal print, it’s ghastly! Fortunately it’s not compulsory.

MissAdventure Tue 24-Sept-24 20:47:05

Dip away... smile
Be careful with those shoes, with your hip!
Just sit down a lot and look glamorous is probably best.

Naughtyneine Tue 24-Sept-24 20:40:32

I'm dipping my toe into posting on another thread...I love being part of Soops gentle kitchen but some of the threads on here are really scary and vitreolic....but here goes. We've just cleared the lock up we've had for 3 years since moving to the SW...and in amongst it was a pair of brand new animal print court shoes....I haven't worn proper pair of heels since my hip op 2 years ago but I popped them on....and ooh it felt good. They will be making an outing very soon...but probably not with my animal print top and ooh I've just remembered there is a a very subtle animal print ( if there is such a thing) fur coat in the Winter clothes chest.

MissAdventure Tue 24-Sept-24 20:30:42

I just read some of the story of Rachel.
Shocking... poor woman.

crazyH Tue 24-Sept-24 20:20:15

kircubbin - so sorry 😢

MissAdventure Tue 24-Sept-24 20:15:21

Maybe you'll spot another one somewhere.
Fingers crossed. smile

foxie48 Tue 24-Sept-24 20:06:30

I tried on a lovely midi skirt in an animal print in Zara, was very tempted but the fit was just not right for me. I was quite disappointed as I had already thought of lots of things I could wear with it! sad

MissAdventure Tue 24-Sept-24 20:04:48

The main thing is to wear what you want, otherwise we'll all be persuaded into wearing the same brands and style, based on other people's opinions.

Enough of that at school.

HowVeryDareYou2 Tue 24-Sept-24 20:02:05

David49 grin.

MissAdventure Me too

There you go David49 ‘ tarty’ Royals for you to insult.

Plenty of tarty royals, polititians and celebrities, if they want to look cheap it’s their problem not mine.

Tenko Tue 24-Sept-24 19:57:18

That’s so sad kirkcubbin. Sending condolences.
I love a bit of animal print but I go for less rather than all over . I have a few animal print blouses and jumpers . And a grey animal print coat . Plus scarves, gloves and bags
Animal print doesn’t have to be brown or beige. I have some in black, white and grey and some with splashes of colour .

JamesandJon33 Tue 24-Sept-24 19:54:58

It wouldn’t lift me. I’m not good with pattern anyway. No dots or stripes. So animal prints would make me feel awful. Sort of fuzzy and uncomfortable
