Nice dress for afternoon family celebration

I haven’t worn a dress since my daughters wedding in 2018, and now think I should buy a dress for this formal gathering.
I was thinking of something like a tea dress, midi or maxi length. Looked at M&S but unsure where else to look!
I should mention I am due a hip operation soon after so nothing fussy. I might have to wear my trainers too!

Look at Hobbs, they have a permanent sale and always have the sort of dresses you are after I think.

I bought a very nice dress in White Stuff. I'll try to find a picture. It's pretty, easy to wear and, er, forgiving!

Och. Can't find it. It was a jersey cotton shirt dress with a pink and white all over design. Goes well with trainers or sandals

Hobbs, Mint Velvet, Sosander, Boden and many others online.

If you are close to a John Lewis they have multiple concessions.

Good luck

Just before I read Avelines response I was going to suggest Whitestuff. Sometimes with first order you can get 15% off

If you’re looking for dressy trainers look at Geox.

Seasalt and White Stuff are my favourites.

I like White Stuff and Seasalt for dresses, I bought a beautiful dress last Spring from Monsoon.
Have a look at the dresses online at Finery of London. I have a couple of theirs, good material and well made.

You don’t state your budget or size. If you don’t mind paying a bit more than high street, have a look at Sahara or Poetry. If you want cheapn cheerful I’d look in Uniqlo.

Boden dresses are my favourite and there are often discounts.

Thanks to everyone. Certainly plenty to look at now!
I have been on steroids for 4 months, just off them and hoping to have hip replacement 1 May. So need cheering up too!
Will keep you posted!

Seasalt and Joe Browns are worth looking at.

Good luck with your search susytish.
I’m looking for a wedding outfit. I’d like a soft flowing trouser suit. I saw one on the never ending Shein adverts, but my DGD and my DD were relieved to hear I wasn’t planning to buy from there.

Definitely Seasalt. Lovely dresses and often on Sale. (Online search advised.) Good luck!

M&S have a pair of silver trainers that I am eyeing up as they would look well with a dress. Roman and Klass have a good selection of dresses.

Lots of pretty trainers around to go with your dress, once you decide susytish. Hope all goes smoothly for your surgery. 💐

I just looked at Sahara dresses vegansrock
and although some look very nice, the prices made my eyes water.
I like Seasalt and Boden as many others have recommended.

Sahara have very good online sales.
