So much for a warm sunny wedding guest outfit...

Fingers crossed my granddaughter's wedding will be sunny next month! I've got the dress and a light bolero but I shall take a warm jacket if it's chilly - or a shawl which is a good idea [thanks Naticastyle!]

Weather can definitely throw a curveball when planning the perfect wedding guest outfit! It’s always smart to have a stylish layer like a shawl or light jacket on hand. Comfort and confidence matter most, rain or shine. Hope the day was still lovely despite the surprise chill.

I ended up with the wrap dress (it is a jersey knit and has 3/4 sleeves. I also had a cardigan, and needed it!

The wedding was lovely, but as I thought, the hall was quite large and if the heat was on, it took a while to heat up the room. Many of the women kept cardigans, wraps or even coats on. And someone kept propping open the doors to let in fresh air, so there was a draft as well.

Luckily, DH likes to dance, so we got moving after the dinner. Not our kind of music, but it's fun to get dancing anyway. Techno-pop anyone? We did what we could...

I am going to visit my daughter down south later in the week, and the forcast is looking like proper late spring weather, so I will be able to pack and wear some of my summer clothing at last. Looking forward to it.

It's still a miserable 10 degrees and raining on and off here.

I usually stick to my original choice, (and freeze with a smile!).
It's deliberating the footwear according to the weather that sends me crazy.

I went to a wedding last month and my outfit proved to be a real dilemma :

I bought a new dress (long ) ,
some foundations and some low heeled shoes . I normally wear trainers .
On the past I've been tempted with cheap shoes from Primark and haven't been able to walk in them . I chose Clarks .
Getting dressed I picked up a too small foundation garment which was still in the M and S bag .
Having got it on and realised my mistake I nearly had to reach for the scissors !
Lesson - try your outfit on the day before and hang it up ready !
The dress was synthetic-I'd opt for cotton now.
I topped it with a really expensive old but beautiful wool coat .
The temperature plummeted that evening.
All the women were shivering.
I was so glad of it.
Perhaps a cotton dress and a pashmina is a good option .
I also don't recommend high heels if you aren't used to walking in then.
Many guests work in the medical profession and wear flats ..They had tremendous problems walking in them as the evening progressed they were kicked off .
Very few people wore hats and not many wore fascinators.
All the ladies had agonised over what to wear until the last minute .
When I got home a staggering eleven hours later I was so glad that I'd opted for comfort

I've got lunch with old friends in a month's time. I only see them a couple of times a year so I like to scrub up reasonably well. Hopefully it will be warm enough for my favourite dress and a linen jacket. At the beginning of July I'm going to a grandparent's day at GS2's school. I'm thinking smartish trousers with a T shirt and jacket. I expect quite a few of the other grandparents will be Indian and will be rather well dressed.

Is grandparents day a thing now? I used to hate Sports Days so I’m glad my grandchildren are now grown up. I pride myself on the fact I went to just about all of my children’s Days! That’s love!

I went to the Chelsea flower show today, luckily it was warm but cloudy, a few spots of rain for half an hour then it was cloudy but dry for the rest of the day. I wore natural wide leg linen trousers with a very muted green, cream and orange blouse with a white cardigan and trainers for comfort.

We have a family bbq on Monday, looks like at 16 a jumper may be required, south of England too, but only spots of rain today.

Yes, apparently they have one at my granddaughter's school. I would love to go but don't see the point of dressing up...

Grandparent's day, what a nice idea!

Oh what a shame for you and all the guests.Weather, even Summer weather is so unpredictable isn’t it? It’s been lovely up to now here in Southern England dry and sunny for almost two months but rain all today and needing a cardi on.
I haven’t any events to dress up for but just love wearing cotton skirts and dresses at the weekends and bare legs and sandals.
