Catherine , Princess of Wales always looks fabulous in everything she wears , she looks so regal today attending The Trooping of the colour,
It got me thinking , how does she choose her outfits ? Can’t see her going to any shops to look for a nice “ outfit”. Or are outfits brought to her home for her to choose or have made,,

I think Catherine has an inflammatory bowel/intestinal condition that may contribute to her her being thin. She originally went into hospital for an undisclosed major abdominal surgery - it was an unexpected consequence of that surgery that the cancer was detected but we never found out the reason for the original surgery.

Catherine has always been very sporty and has always done a lot of engagements that involved putting her sports kit on and engaging in physical activity - rugby, hiking, abseiling, hockey, tennis. So she does not appear to be "thin and weak"

Her mother and sister are also very slim so a large part seems to be genetics.

Kate’s clothes are styled by Natasha Archer??

Blimey! No wonder Tom is scared stiff of her.

Sorry, non Archers fans. 🤣

Bukkie

I agree she will be carefully monitored and have the best of healthcare but she was dangerously thin long before she had cancer.

She is not ‘dangerously’ thin though. Dangerously thin is anorexic. She had three children whilst at the weight she is now. If you are dangerously thin your periods stop and you are infertile. Even if you put weight on in later life you find it very difficult to conceive. Her sister is the same, very slim, three children later.

Catherine and Pippa are dangerously thin not slim. Pippa in particular looked dreadfully ill at Wimbledon last year. Their mum Carole is slim. It is especially noticeable when Catherine is seen sideways. I suspect both sisters control what they eat. My friend does it and some of the things she says worry me e.g. She told me she always wear clothes a size or more too small so they feel tight and uncomfortable to prevent her eating at meal time. She chooses the meal in a café or restaurant with the least number of calories and not what she fancies. She then leaves most of it. My friend has recently been told she is anaemic. Victoria Beckham is the same, even David commented recently how little his wife ate. Both my friend and VB have had four children. Protesting Catherine is slim, sporty and tall rather than thin is beyond naive.

But she clearly has an underlying medical condition - hence the need for major abdominal surgery in the first place.

A doctor I spoke to said his guess (and it was speculation) was that the original surgery was to remove a section of her bowel (possibly Crohn's or Ulcerative colitis etc - weight loss being a major symptom of such conditions) and the cancer was found in the removed tissue.

I’m so glad I’m not famous enough to have people speculating about my health. It’s a bit ghoulish.

The Princess of Wales has pulled out of her visit to Royal Ascot today.
I do hope she’s OK.

Feelingmyage55 Wed 18-Jun-25 13:55:03

One reason that the Princess looks so good is that she has lovely posture.

Me too sad.

Perhaps she isn’t interested in horse racing

MayBee70 Wed 18-Jun-25 14:37:57

She’s very aware of how important Royal Ascot is to the family. I don’t think she would have wanted to miss it.

I agree with Bukkie that she's not healthily thin and I think this applies to other royal women and celebrities, not just here, but from other countries too. I think there's too much pressure on people in the public eye to present an unnatural ideal of the "perfect" weight and appearance.

As this thread comes under the Style & Beauty category, I have to say that, for me today, Mrs. Middleton made a fashion faux pas. I'm not sure whether it's the colour or the fabric, but it doesn't work.

merlotgran Wed 18-Jun-25 16:58:01

It doesn’t work for me either, escaped. I don’t think a lace covered torso is a good look. I like the dress length but the sleeves could do with being a bit shorter.

She’s very stylish though and I rarely pick faults with what she’s wearing.

MayBee70 Wed 18-Jun-25 18:33:15

Anything lacey makes me itch! I do think that it seems to be quite fashionable this year. Although some people appear to be wearing dresses without an under layer that are a bit see through in the sunshine. Good job there aren’t any storm bugs around wearing yellow…

Well probably not as I think she's spoken publicly about being allergic to horses.

However she was on the carriage list for today's royal procession until the carriages were reshuffled 90 minutes before it started.

My sister is 10 years older than the Princess of Wales, she is fit, eats whatever she likes, drinks alcohol, eats chocolate and cakes, she is a UK 6 and hovers around 7st.

I find it ghoulish speculating over her health, armchair diagnosis of her cancer and now an eating disorder.

Calendargirl Wed 18-Jun-25 21:44:24

Their mum Carole is slim

She’s certainly not fat, but looking at the picture at today’s Ascot in that lemon lacy dress, ‘slim’ isn’t how I would describe her.

She looks like many ladies in their 70’s, quite round in the middle.

Still looking good though, but the dress wasn’t the best choice.

Catherine always carries herself with such grace — it's not just what she wears, but how she wears it. Her confidence, posture, and elegant choices truly elevate everything she puts on. 🌸✨

I really like the dress Carole is wearing

I imagine William and Catherine have a cook and staff who will prepare meals etc. that are nutritious. I imagine there is less chance of them both finishing a heavy shift at B&M warehouse and getting a KFC on the way home as they are both exhausted

petra Fri 18-Jul-25 11:30:05

It’s not the dress, it’s the hat. It’s swamping the dress.
Having said that, the length should be mid calf.

JaneJudge Fri 18-Jul-25 11:43:25

is the thing on top on the hat? or is it something in the distance?

You worked in a B&M warehouse and ate KFC after every days work ?

Galaxy Fri 18-Jul-25 11:47:10

I like the dress but not the hat. I can't tell if the white thing is part of the hat or part of a building!

Galaxy Fri 18-Jul-25 11:48:14

I tell you something the opening of a Greggs near to my office has been a disaster for me grin
