Any ideas please on where to buy a large leather handbag suitable for a working professional lady, to carry lots of stuff and still look smart.

Rowallen bags are lovely. All leather, in a wide range of styles & colours……..and made in Scotland too! What’s not to love?

Aspinal of London, pricey but worth it.

I agree regarding Rowallen - I have a couple of them - real leather and reasonably priced

I got our daughter a lovely one from Clarks.

Sadly although being called Rowallan of Scotland they aren't made there. They might be designed there but the company is very vague about where they are actually made. I'm guessing China

Tustings bags, all hand made in the UK,

I have two, they are beautifully made classic bags.

I’ve just bought a lovely Osprey bag and they have a sale on at the moment.

I just love Radley.

Take a deep breath - but a Mulberry Bayswater would last a lifetime and look better as it aged.

Harris27 Wed 06-Aug-25 21:39:58

Radley durable fashionable gorgeous.

I’m looking at all other suggestions and thank you.

Rowallan of Scotland is a brand name used by Checkers of Kilmarnock, a distribution company. The products are designed and sourced abroad. Clearly stated on their website, although doesn't state where "abroad".

Well at the prices and comparisons I have gone with Rowallan. Afraid I can’t be puritanical about the source and trust recommendations here. However should lottery show where premium bonds failed then she can still have the Mulberry.

Mt61 Thu 07-Aug-25 12:37:34

I would try tkmaxx fraction of the price of branded shops

Nanato3 Thu 07-Aug-25 13:11:02

I would look on Amazon. Give you some idea of price and what the bags look like . They do have some lovely leather one's.

Go on Vinted, lots of good leather bags 'new with tags' or 'new without tags'. Good designer brands are there. Always offer slightly lower and 9/10 times they accept.

I have a large collection of leather handbags, collected over the years. I bought a Rowallen bag about 2 years ago because it was the design I needed. It’s been excellent and good quality. I’ve used it a lot as it has a large capacity without being bulky.

Look at New Baginings - the lady makes beautifil bags from unwanted sofas which would otherwise go the landfill - the painted ones are unique and look designer (I have one!)

Rowallan bags are good value, l just don't think anyone should be mislead that they are made in the UK.

Mulberry for me but very expensive. Coach have some nice ones and don't cost an arm and a leg.

LaTroisette Thu 07-Aug-25 14:59:04

Muud are lovely. I bought one specifically designed for knitting projects but they do a range. The one I have has been really good.

I also like a large bag and usually go to the sales to have a good look round for a "tote" or a "shopper" which are usually just large handbags rather than actual shopping bags.
My daughter bought me a Coach bag a couple of years ago, very stylish and as Knspol says not as expensive as some.
