I’m looking for something to do at home which will reduce the yellowing on my aging teeth. I do go to the dentist regularly but the cost for cleaning is over £100 and they don’t do it on the NHS.
I was wondering if anyone had a success with a product I could buy which may help.
Just for information I use an electronic toothbrush have done for years. My daily routine is to use the tiny brushes each morning then brush with the electric toothbrush in the evening I floss and again use the electric toothbrush. Dentist twice a year for check up.
My grandson asked me a few months ago why I had yellow teeth., if he noticed they must look bad.
Any ideas ladies.

I believe Rylan has porcelain veneers and I remember him saying that he wasn’t too happy with them.
I am scared of the dentist and never go unless an emergency. The dentist is a good friend of my husband’s boss so we also meet socially. About 12 years ago I asked him about teeth whitening and he said because I am a natural blonde it wouldn’t work. My husband didn’t believe him.
When I smile my teeth don’t show very much. So none of it concerns me particularly.

Eucryl tooth powder, it's similar to Vim but tastes better (l assume, having not tasted Vim). They say only to use it twice a week but l used to use it daily for years with no ill effect.

Didn't know they still made Eucryl
Remember my father using it in the Sixties and making jokes about it tasting like Vim.Ho ho!

I was surprised to see it last week, Superdrug l think.

Must be genetics. None of us have white teeth, all cream. Mine are darker cream, but not dirty. I remember my baby teeth, they were white, then when they fell out, new teeth came through, they weren't white. I've drunk milk all my life, brushed them, flossed, still they aren't white. I don't smile. My sister had a bridge done (think that's what it was called) when she was 16 (now 56 almost) that's creamy white. I think WHITE, think fake.

On the other hand, my gran, who died in 1983, had her own white teeth, dark brown/black hair with a few streaks of grey and cleaned them with a dark red toothpaste. After she died, I remember seeing Betty Turpin/Betty Driver on tv and thinking, wow, looks just like my gran. My grandad had a full set of false teeth.

Both my parents have crap teeth, us girls didn't stand a chance!

We have both noticed how much whiter our teeth are since using a water flosser and a sonic toothbrush.

My late husband was a dentist he didn't agree with whitening as he said it would eventually weaken the enamel and also cause sensitivity. He also said that yellow teeth , as long as they were kept clean and healthy, were an indication of stronger enamel .

Be careful of tooth whitening .
As we age our teeth will darken .
I do think that super whitening treatments can look too bright as if someone has a light bulb in their mouth .
I never told a friend of mine,,but people thought that she was frightening when she smiled .
A little baking soda with toothpaste will brighten your smile .

I agree with you, Oreo. Many old people when we were young had white teeth because they were dentures.
I associate artificially white teeth in older mouths with false teeth, which is probably not the image they wished to project.

You have to have hygiene appointments and then whitening on top of that. At the dentist I use (private) It is £125 for an initial hygiene appointment, than £95 6 x monthly and for whitening it is £200 for upper

Re Rylan
Rylan Clark shows off his gleaming new porcelain veneers teeth. The presenter paid a visit to Dr. Richard Marques at his central London clinic, whose previous celebrity patients include Olympic swimmer Tom Daley, TV personality Joey Essex and former Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw, for a smile design makeover.

I found a product called Snow worked well. It is American but now you can buy the system on Amazon. It consists of a gel pen (I used gold. The silver wasn't effective for me) and a device that you put over your teeth that gives out light. I did it for 30 minutes daily for a week. Made a huge difference. I also purchased the Snow toothpaste which helped a lot too. Now I have the new Colgate purple toothpaste and that seems good for keeping the yellowing at bay. My dentist told me my teeth were no longer white because the enamel was thin so whitening wouldn't help. However, this was clearly not the case because my teeth are no longer yellow so it must have been because of stains 🤷‍♀️. It was definitely worth getting Snow. I started using it pre covid and periodically use it, perhaps every 6 months or so to keep the yellowing at bay 😁

I use whitening straps. They work well.
