Is it just me.... I see the latest trend of leopard print and other animal print everywhere, and I hate it. It just looks cheap and tacky unless it is on an actual animal. Maybe one item, but most I see are dressed head to foot in it. Does anyone know how to make it look classy and sophisticated or am I missing the point?

My sister is the furthest thing from tarty and tacky you could imagine. She adores leopard print and always looks fabulous.

Primrose I too have a simple animal print coat ( a gift from DH some years ago) and regularly get compliments or requests where to buy it- when I wear it. It’s very well cut, and is quite a subtle pattern. I was not sure when DH gave it to me- worried I would look tarty- he said that I could never look tarty!
Leopard print can look tarty- but a little bit can lift an otherwise plain outfit.

I'm with the "I love it" it Brigade.

About 15 years ago my Mum treated me to an animal print mac by Hobbs. It was very expensive and I just loved it. Every single time I wore it someone complimented me and even asked where I bought it. I still wear it now and then. It is very well cut, the perfect length and has beautiful black buttons.

I love it!

Me too Kate1949, I just love wearing tan, black and ivory together, if the lion is king, the leopard is queen!

Me too! A little can look very classy in my opinion.

Each to his own!
Some people can ooze class and dignity with very little effort and others will never be able to carry it off whatever they choose to wear or whatever the price of the garment either.

You'd all hate me then - I love a bit of leopard print! Classy or not, I could not care less. I like it and don't care what anyone else thinks. Currently sitting here in my leopard print dressing gown! grin

Good for you! Who actually really cares about what others wear?

I have an eclectic wardrobe, none of its terribly “classy”, some is just outrageous, clashing patterns and materials, some plain and boring, but it’s all my choice and nowadays comfy! I couldn’t give a fig if no one else likes how I look or how I dress!

That's pretty much my attitude too these days - who cares? If I'm not wearing leopard print, I'm usually in band merch t-shirts or hoodies!

I agree. Can’t stand it. The word “tarty”comes to mind. My .friend loves it. She knows I don’t like it and she can’t understand it. When she adds black tights I think “Oh! No.

Although I don't have any leopard print items, I do think it looks nice on some people, but not head-to-toe.

MissChateline Tue 17-Mar-26 19:20:03

Oh dear, this morning I bought a leopard print swim suit from a very nice department store in Halifax. (With excellent tummy control panels) I think it looks great, definitely not common and certainly doesn’t remind me of Bet Lynch!

Lucyloo12 Tue 17-Mar-26 19:03:27

Not just me then.... phew!!

Treebee Tue 17-Mar-26 19:03:26

I must say it suits some people, but not me.

Gran22boys Tue 17-Mar-26 18:53:27

It makes people look common. It’s tasteless.

Bukkie Tue 17-Mar-26 18:49:49

JamesandJon. I totally agree, I always refer to someone looking like Bet Lynch when they have leopard print on.

merlotgran Tue 17-Mar-26 18:49:23

I just think of Bet Lynch in Corrie whenever anyone mentions leopard print.

Bukkie Tue 17-Mar-26 18:48:03

I absolutely hate all animal print and am baffled why it is so popular. Each to their own I suppose.

JamesandJon33 Tue 17-Mar-26 18:47:18

Hate it . Always associate it with Bet Lynch .
