I know fashion is fashion, and I do like a bit of artistry, but can someone please tell these people that their clothes make them look embarrassing. At some gala last night.

Money can't buy class.

No but it can buy an enlarged @rse

kircubbing2000 😲🙈

Isn’t it sad that women think they can only get attention by being half naked in this day and age?

SueDonim Tue 05-May-26 17:09:52

Wyllow said Proof: men draped in equivalent garb aren't being seen. Now that would be something to see

I was thinking along those lines the other day. Why don’t high street shops sell men’s crop tops, ultra-short shorts or thong underpants. Or male shapewear, come to that. 🤔

I think that's Serena Williams. She's always had a big a*e.

Dottydots Tue 05-May-26 17:18:15

Wow, why on earth do they want to dress like that. I'm 84 and think I'm brave in wearing jeans and a saucy little tee shirt in the summer.

You don't have to have surgery to get a big @rse. M n S and all the big undies manufactures Amazon sell shape wear -

so if, I simply imagined, you wanted to look your best in a wedding summer frock, you pop on a pair of undies that smooth out birds and bobs out round tum , bum and thighs.

Not enough for some. If you read the small print they come with pockets like in padded bras to pop in an insert.

Yes really: so they come with a pop in pad to make your bum stick out entrancingly

I see them at the gym where some young women wear short leg leggings that have it. You can see the edges on some of them.

For real. Its supposed to be very *exy

And to get serious for a moment, its totally totally sad, that after all we've been through to change us "as objects" as women - those who wear them are signalling "love me/see me for my body, not me as I am" by adopting this.

(Mind you, men have their own version, and historically think codpiece 🤣)

The theme of this year's Met Gala was "Costume Art". Most of them looked more like "Costume Tart" to me, but what do I know?

The Met Gala used to be a platform for designers and "celebs" to showcase truly avant garde evening wear. It was something of a fun, but for the fashion industry, iconic event. But it's gone from being Avant Garde to Truly Tacky - some well versed commentators base this on it being sponsored by Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez. A shining example of money being no respecter of class.

Some of the abonimations this year beggar belief. It's now just an attention seeking, over-hyped extravaganza of dodgy taste- something of an embarassment really, given the fragile and rather scary world we're living in right now.

Do women want their bottoms to look big now? What happened to “Does my bum look big in this?”

MissAdventure Tue 05-May-26 18:33:31

Yep, people have buttock implants now.
Does my bum look big in this?
Huge, really massive...
Oh, good!

NittWitt Tue 05-May-26 18:37:17

Yukk!
The first one is the most revolting, I think, but it's a close thing.

Esmay Tue 05-May-26 18:47:03

Dear me - I actually think that I'd rather wear a sack .

The Met Gala is a fundraiser, in 2025 they raised their highest ever amount $31million. It's largely fun, remember that, fun? Trump is banned maybe he's not such fun.

That puts a different light on things.

But the funds don't go to charity or good causes.

The funds go back to the Met for the Costume Institute!

Why didn’t that link 🤷‍♀️
Let’s try again.
