Colouring Your Hair At Home

Which brand do you use?

I've tried all sorts on my medium brown hair, which I have to colour every 4 weeks (could do earlier than that) The majority turn out too dark.

Also between colouring I use a Root Perfect spray in light brown for my parting, which covers the grey well. But it's a bit messy for the side whispy bits. Any advice please?

Hi Welshy - I now use dark ash blond.
It’s not really blond and comes out much darker but gradually fades until I do it again.

Maybe I will try that. Thank you.

The people so keen on just going grey are the fortunate ones who go grey/white in an attractive manner, My DiL's family go grey evenly all over from all over iron grey, then grey then white. I envy them. See above for what happens to me.

I have coloured my hair at home every six weeks since covid lockdown. I use XP100 permanent hair colour 8.3 light golden blonde with a little of XP100 7.00 medium intense blonde. Then I add cream peroxide 6%/20vol and mix it well. Yes it covers grey!

Now, this is the strange thing. When I first stopped colouring my hair it looked like it was white all over. I, too, envied women who had the most fabulous greys. For some reason my hair started looking like it was streaked rather than white and it stopped being curly. I now wear it in a bob and my hairdresser has been asked by other clients to have the same coloured streaks! We are both totally bemused by it. Long may it last, but I suspect that it will soon start going white.
