Just this. Apparently our landline is going to be reliant on our wi fi. We will soon be receiving an attachment for phone to router. Extensions will need an engineer. Now we use our mobile quite happily but as our hearing is a real problem we cannot hear it if in another room. Also when there is a break in service or a problem we ring 150 to get information. Often there will be an automated message. Has anyone got the same situation? In which case have you found it a problem?

MOnica, you could use your old phones in your house as before. If you (or get someone else to) register a digital voice adapter with your new smart hub then plug your old phone hub into the voice adapter, you could use your old phones as before. I did it inadvertently when I set my new system up and had the old handset system working in parallel! I'd nag Vodafone - it isn't rocket science!

*Pittcity*, a smart watch uses Bluetooth technology which has a short range and doesn't go through thick walls.

It depends on which watch you choose. Some are connected directly to the phone signal and others work using WiFi or mobile data (4g/5g.) and so are not reliant on the phone being nearby. You do need a signal of some sort though.

Does anyone know, if a storms or power cuts knock out Wi-Fi will it mean landlines will no longer work until power is restored? Does it mean all the telegraph poles, with lines stretching across properties out to the street, will be removed?

The phone companies can provide back up battery packs to those who have no other form of communication during a power cut.
The Age UK website is quite helpful on this subject.

Missedout We have Freegled our landline phones!

Because we have an old house with this huge mass of a chimney slap in the centre we have had communication sytems problem ever since we moved here. We do now have a set of extenders around the house so that we can get the internet in every room, but these do nto seem to be very effective with the phone.

Missedout, I did the same as you, simply used my old, redundant master socket, linked to the hub, to send the signal to the upstairs phones. Quite a few neighbours have removed the old BT wiring from the front of their houses and it looks neater.
