To all of you who got caught up in the pension fiasco a little ray of hope. There is a 60+ travel card for Londoners who are 60+.

As I turned 60 2 weeks ago I was a bit peeved that I would not be getting my Freedom pass or come to that my pension until I am 62.7 months (after 40+ years of paying full NI and tax I might add).

My son surfed the net and found the 60+ travel card for Londoners.

I applied on Monday last week 22/10/2012 and it arrived today. It cost £10 and will last until I receive my Freedom Pass in May 2015. Fantastic.

So I am assuming that this is for men and women, if you havent got it already whats stopping you apply now, you will save lots of money that you can use on yourself or your grandchildren.

Just spread the word to anyone who is 60+ or who will be 60 in the next few months etc.

To apply go to the Transport for London website (tfl) and type in 60+ then follow the links. Cut and paste into address bar if you cannot click into websites:-
www.tfl.gov.uk/corporate/media/newscentre/metro/25967.aspx
or
www.tfl.gov.uk/60pluslondon

Good luck all and happy savings.

But only if you live in London, of course. I now use buses much more when I am in London (bus pass) and if I am going to need to use the underground, I buy a 1-day Travelcard using my senior railcard 1/3 reduction.
