I love nature and its beauty . What are the countries having best natural beauty.

YankeeGran Thu 16-Jun-16 08:02:53

A survey of travel agents voted England the most beautiful island in the world. I agree!

Anniebach Thu 16-Jun-16 08:11:45

England is an island ?

The Lake District out of season is stunning. North Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Highlands of Scotland, Snowdonia, Pembrokeshire, Gower etc. Britain is beautiful. P.S. Norway isn't bad either.

The Yorkshire Dales are stunning, but so is Scotland and Cumbria.

Aysgarth Falls in Wensleydale is my favourite spot with High Force in Northumbria coming second.

Anywhere wild with no population is lovely to me.
The Lake District, the Peak District , the rest of Derbyshire and Yorkshire are favourites along with North Wales, all dear to me.
We are blessed that hardly anyone has to travel far in this country to get away from towns and industrial areas to find stunning locations and peace.

For lakes , Scotland. For mountains Wales. Cornwall for postcard beauty, I love the Yorkshire moors . Coast line difficult , for me Cardiganshire

The Peak District (particularly the Dark Peak - the views from the gritstone edges above the Hope Valley are stunning on a fine day); the Yorkshire Dales; the Lakes; the Pembrokeshire Coast; The West Coast of Scotland, (Applecross to Torridon); there are wonderful places in the British Isles, and what makes them wonderful is their accessibility.

Spent a Christmas at Lake Bled, in the Julian Alps of the Upper Carniolan region of northwestern Slovenia, a fairy tale place, with snow falling on Christmas day pure magic.

Well I love all the ones listed so far - Bled is very much on our bucket list, as I have so many photos of mum visiting there in the early 30s.

But I'll have to be biased and say the Jura mountains, both French and Swiss side- great dales, limestone circles, and much more gentle and hiking friendly than the very stark Alps- with fabulous alpine, mountain and meadow flowers, and wildlife, and gorgeous lakes all around. Happy to advise anyone wanting to come and visit this beautiful area anytime.

The New Zealand fjords are spectacular. Waterfalls too.

Lillie Thu 16-Jun-16 11:14:35

New Zealand for me too. You feel nature definitely came first there, man is a very recent arrival on the scenery.

I live near the Black Forest which has all of the above. Rivers a-plenty around here - the Rhine, of course, especially around the Lorelei. You can cruise along and see it all from the boat. The best part are the picturesque little old villages, but the nature is very beautiful in a European way (i.e., you're never far from "civilisation")

By most accounts, it can't hold a candle to the mountains and landscapes (countryside is too parochial a word) around the West coast of America, starting in the Napa Valley and working land inwards to the National parks.

I imagine Idaho and Montana to be up your street, too, whilst the States further South may be too desert-ridden for someone who loves mountains, lakes and rivers.

Bled is beautiful. At least, judging from the postcards it must be. We went there when it was still Yugoslavia and we were staying in Kärnten in Southern Austria. We did a three-countries drive (Italy, Yugoslavia, Autria) on a rainy day. We saw the lake and Tito's country house in the rain.

20 years later, my husband and I spent a holiday in Slovenia and visited Bled again. Again it was pouring with rain. The locals said "We haven't had rain like this for 20 years". We laughed and said we knew - we had been there then, too.

New Zealand is beautiful. Spent a month there but want to go back.l live in Scotland and so it has a special place n my heart. The western isles are wonderful as are Orkney and Shetland. They all have great scenery and such a rich history.

Pippa000 Your the only other English person I 'know who has been to lake Bled. I love all of Slovenia, one of Europes best kept secrets.
I love the Rhone Alps for stunning scenery and particularly Lake Nantua. Lake Annecy is very touristy but still stunning.

If you want wild and beautiful and not too far from home, the Greek mountains, rivers and lakes are beautiful. We came upon this area after leaving Albania.

MargaretX Thu 16-Jun-16 20:49:15

When I used to teach English I once asked the class which was the most beautiul country and most said Greece!
I like Switzerland myself.

Lyndylou Thu 16-Jun-16 21:13:29

I have many happy memories of the Rhine, JackyB, it's a gorgeous area of Germany and, of course Bavaria is wonderful for lakes and scenery.

I also second those who have mentioned Norway. Beautiful country.

aggie Thu 16-Jun-16 21:27:46

New Zealand is spectacular , Japan is amazing , but our Mourne Mountains are pretty good too . Donegal is hard to beat , miles of beautiful sands . Then there is Scotland with its rugged glens ..........

Regalo Thu 16-Jun-16 21:59:57

Norway...especially the North and the Lofoten islands. Stunning unspoilt scenery for miles and miles and miles......you just can't beat it and it is away from the touristy bits.

My favourite place is the Italian Lakes, absolutely beautiful.

Maggiemaybe Fri 17-Jun-16 08:45:40

Canada, in my view. The photos we took in the Banff National Park are so beautiful people wouldn't believe they're not photoshopped.

Just like these:

I agree re The Lake District, Peak District and the many lovely places in the UK. I also love the Italian Lakes - Como and Garda. I think the most spectacular scenery I have seen is on the Amalfi coast. Also Killarney in Ireland takes some beating.
