Where would you advise for a weeks sun in March ?
Just to sit in the sun and read, go for strolls, maybe take a boat trip, eat some nice food ?Don’t need night life or “entertainment “!
In Europe please….

When we travelled overseas we loved going to a place called Mojacar in Andalucia, our nephew has an apartment we stayed in for about 6 weeks. It was lovely, beautiful beaches, nice walk along a long promenade, nice and quiet and lots of lovely restaurants and bars. Gorgeous Pueblo. Bliss. Sadly my husband was diagnosed with Leukaemia last August so won’t be going for a while.

Canaries - we especially like Playa Blanca in Lanzarote. Lovely walks by sea, cafes, bars, restaurants. Chill out time!!

Has anyone investigated the pensioners' holidays where they can spend the winter somewhere warm but inexpensive? The cold has dragged me down recently and I would love to go somewhere warm next year costing no more than the increase in utility bills we will be forced to pay by staying at home.

I am not going to advise anywhere, as I think it would be incautious in the extreme to believe that the pandemic is over and done with so soon.

I was just thinking about this the other day, and I had decided on Malta, the weather looks great, and it's a place I've never been.

Yes, that too!

Playa Blanca in the south of Lanzarote. We’ve gone there many times in March and the weather has always been beautiful. The resort is low-rise; not ‘night-clubby’; plenty of nice hotels / apartments and friendly restaurants. Good shopping too! There’s a lovely marina housing luxury boats and an authentic fishing harbour. Nice places to stroll and stop for a drink etc. Of all the resorts we’ve visited in Europe, Playa Blanca is the most relaxing (IMO). You can view it, in ‘real time’ on YouTube. Good lucksmile

We enjoyed our stay at plays Blanca a few years ago.
There was a very good market by the+marina and a super restaurant close to the entrance which looked out across the bay with wonderful views of the sunset. It was all very relaxing.

Yes we like Playa Blanca in Lanzarote as well, we're going again in April.
The market at the Marina Rubicon has some really good stalls.

Southern Sicily for me, or Crete.

Or Seville in Spain and Cordoba, via Malaga.

It isn’t over but it is reasonable to travel sensibly now in my opinion unless one is very vulnerable.

UPDATE

This morning with great ease I have booked a week in the Algarve following a brilliant recommendation from Sago !
Flying from our local airport too, always a bonus. Decent time of day flights, good luggage allowance (although I travel light anyway) excellent price .

Madeira or Malta. Both beautiful and very friendly.

Careful with Malta! We went end of march one year and it was full cloudy and fffffreeeeezing! Had to struggle with a denim jacket and one pair of chambray Jeans! Never again.. canaries always warm and of course beautiful Madeira

Do you have to go anywhere? Help save the planet; keep another COVID variant at bay; save money (or even better - give it to people who need basics, never mind holidays). Enjoy the fact that you have time and money, and create a holiday at home. The sun shines here too - you just might have to wait a few months! (Puts on tin hat....)

I don’t want a holiday at home. I need a change of scene, I love Europe.
I am not a good enough person clearly but so be it.

See what Covid has to say about the matter first, then stay at home anyway.

Seriously ? Why put such a downer on things?

How about a short cruise that stops at a lot of nice places to sample. Or failing that take a good read, book a tanning session locally and save on the hassle of whether or not rules change and you can actually go on holiday. Just think Australia has imposed a 5 day lockdown again, parts of Europe are still in lockdown from their Christmas/New Year period. Good luck.

Really ? Which parts of Europe are in lockdown ?

Sydney isn’t in lockdown.

No I haven’t but did stay in a hotel in Malta when a lot of the guests were there for about 3 months. We arrived at the end of the winter season, it wasn’t hot but very pleasant.
Lots of lovely people many of whom met up every year. They were all very friendly and appeared to be having a very enjoyable time.
