The first one I’ve heard of this year, will that put you off if you were thinking of booking?

Oh no, I remember feeling so sorry for the cruise ship clients in December 2019. At least these people have all been vaccinated, best wishes to them.

I can't imagine why anyone would go on a cruise in the middle of a pandemic.

Shinamae Thu 10-Mar-22 10:32:40

I have never wanted to cruise, personally I can’t think of anything worse

Shinamae Thu 10-Mar-22 10:33:25

Obviously I can think of lots of things worse but for a holiday I mean ?

MissAdventure Thu 10-Mar-22 10:35:19

Yes, it could be a cruise with Jane Macdonald on it. grin

Naughty Miss A ??

I used to like cruises and have seen some really interesting parts of the world whilst on cruises. Would I go on a cruise at the moment? No!

MissAdventure Thu 10-Mar-22 10:39:49

wink
I was waiting to be told off then.

BigBertha1 Thu 10-Mar-22 11:47:09

I used to think I wouldn't and didn't enjoy the only one I have been on but at the moment this girl just wants to have fun so I might go. Friends have just home back from a cruise in Barbados and had a whale of a time.

Kim19 Thu 10-Mar-22 11:53:18

Yes I am currently considering it but medium size river cruise. Nothing ginormous. I'm simply waiting for the paperwork requirements to become less of a faff.

Liz46 Thu 10-Mar-22 11:56:14

Not a hope in hell of getting me on a cruise, especially at the moment.

Grannynannywanny Thu 10-Mar-22 12:05:01

I’m pining for my annual trip to Ireland. That would be the perfect sailing experience for me.

Ailidh Thu 10-Mar-22 12:21:28

I'm not a cruise lover either - I had a friend who raved about them but her idea of fun was my idea of hell.

However, even if I loved cruises, I still wouldn't be ready to go on one yet for this reason - either becoming ill or having the whole thing cancelled. Nope, not yet.

We're off in a river cruise next month. Ocean cruise booked for November. We're vaccinated, boosted and have to take PCR before travelling.

kittylester Thu 10-Mar-22 13:36:28

We love River Cruises but are not thinking of it for a good while yet.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 10-Mar-22 13:41:18

Going on a cruise is my idea of the holiday from hell.

Esspee Thu 10-Mar-22 13:48:06

It would be like sailing in a Petrie dish at the moment.

Aveline Thu 10-Mar-22 13:50:33

Ah the classics- 'Petrie dish'- I wondered when that one would be posted grin
I'll let you know if somehow we survive!

aonk Thu 10-Mar-22 13:54:42

I think that only those who have been on a cruise before are qualified to comment. I’m just about to go on one and will feel safer than I do in my home town. Every passenger and crew member will be fully vaccinated and no one can embark without a PCR test. You can’t say that about places I visit at home such as the supermarket, restaurant etc.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 10-Mar-22 13:59:18

Don’t you think that the crew and passengers on the ship mentioned in the OP were fully vaccinated and tested aonk?

aonk Thu 10-Mar-22 14:01:15

I should add that mask wearing will be strictly enforced which is regrettably not happening at home.

aonk Thu 10-Mar-22 14:16:48

Yes I do think they were but Covid is still with us. The only way to be completely sure is to lock yourself down. Anything else brings risks. Many cruise ships are operating now and I’ve only heard of this outbreak. The ship I’m going on has been operating on the same route sine November and so far nothing has gone wrong.

BlueBelle Thu 10-Mar-22 14:25:26

aonk I hope you have a wonderful time but you don’t need to be so defensive That’s your choice of holiday ! Great but for me and some others being locked away with people not of choice on the high seas would be a nightmare and we ve every right to comment wether we ve been or not been
I ve never fought in a war thankfully but I ve every right to comment about it

I particularly enjoy meeting new people and cruises are a nice way to do that. We don't go on huge ships and avoid those ones with pubs and casinos and climbing walls etc. Our preferred cruiseline tends to suit people like us. It's tastefully decorated, understated and with masses of space (like myself!!) There are many quiet corners if you want to find a nice space to read or just stare at the sea. Good food too as well as interesting places to visit at our own pace. Oh I can hardly wait now !!
