We are going on a coach trip to Holland shortly to see the tulips.

We also have a day trip to Amsterdam. As we only have one day where do you think is somewhere we should make a point of visiting?

Thank you.

The Jewish Museum would be my bet.

I went with a party of friends and when they all went to dress up in costumes, I hopped on a canal boat and went to the Reijksmuseum which was unfortunately under renovation at the time and was only partly open. But I saw most of what I wanted to see and then it was only a short trip to the Van Gogh museum which I absolutely loved. The hotel's receptionist recommended a very good Indonesian restaurant which we enjoyed - lovely food and fantastic service.

Yes the flower auction is quite an amazing sight but you have to get up very early to see the most of the auctions.

We went there recently, I booked tickets for the Vermeer in January. Horrible weather! I enjoyed the exhibition, very well laid out and not too crowded. DH said that he preferred his art to be more challenging. We did the boat trip and went to a house which had been owned by a very rich couple in the 1880s. Sadly, these days we can't do too much due to my arthritic knee and his bad back also he's nearly 85. Unfortunately covid came back with us,I blame Eurostar or the crowded Amsterdam trams. Strangely I'm still testing negative, but feel as though I have a rather nasty cold

Google “Hidden gems in Amsterdam”, you might find something that appeals.

Definitely Rembrandt's house and a trip on the water but the bikes are a pain. We also visited the red light area which was interesting as I have never seen anything quite like it before or since.

The ladies in their display windows looked pretty discouraging in daylight. Sad really but at least it's not all hidden away I suppose so safer for them.

Anne Franks house ….I went 40 years ago …no queues then. … I suspect you’ll need to book now.

I haven't been there for many years but I bought a painting from the 'small gallery' for emerging artists. I still love it and the artist was there and said, hopefully. this was the start of her career. I haven't followed her but I think most artists have to be dead, sorry, before their work is fully appreciated. The painting is in my bedroom and I still love it 20 years later. The red light district was interesting and we visited a few brown bars on the edge of the red light district which were also quite interesting as well as the previous suggestions by OPs

We visited Amsterdam years ago on a mini-cruise from Hull. We only had a day there - we chose a canal trip, a walk around the streets and over the bridges, then visited Madame Tussaud’s.
The bikes are all old boneshakers! We never saw a single bike repair shop…🤔
