Hi I'm going to Perth Australia in January non stop .Any tips for what to keep with me on board ? Also are those casual yoga outfits the thing to wear ? I'm getting conflicting advice from relatives .I've got varicose veins so have to wear compression socks which doesn't help ! Any top tips gratefully recieved

Sago

This thread is months old!

Probably still relevant for those contemplating a long haul flight soon though?
We are in Aus now, travelled via KL. They have just introduced a new entry form so if you are having a stopover there be aware that there is a long , long wait to get through immigration.
It was almost 2 months since we were there but we will be returning in a couple of weeks. Hope they have got to grips with it by then!

I took my knitting but it was circular needles. I didn't do any.
All good tips but you don't have to bring eye mask or toothbrush. These are all supplied even in economy.

An aisle seat is vital so you can walk about without climbing over anyone or forcing them to wake up.

God it's awful! but worth every minute. I'm recently home from a month in NZ.

I left my phone on the first plane from UK and haven't seen it since.
Don't do that!

I have to say I detest the long haul flights. I can’t sleep, want to wee all the time and feel stressed out. We are not going on any more now, sick of it.

I think that knitting and sewing needles can be allowed at the discretion of the security staff .
I have seen knitting needles and scissors confiscated .
I've had my scissors and tweezers ( admittedly very pointed and sharp ) taken .
I know people who've had chilli powder removed from their hand luggage .
Why would you take it on holiday ?
Well you might if you are a chilli addict !
I know some .

Never thought of taking a First Defence nasal spray on a trip -what a good idea .
I once had pneumonia caught on the way back from the Middle East , but then I'm asthmatic .

I try to save a book that I'm longing to read for a trip . And one for the home trip - that takes some discipline !
