Just a quick update Aveline. Been out all day and having a cool off now. Sun is VERY hot but there are also cold winds so it depends on where you are as to how hot you get. Went to the 'glass' church this morning - beautiful church with Lalique glass fitted. Well worth a visit if you haven't been before.

Spent the afternoon in St Helier - very hot, very crowded and very, very noisy in the middle where they are relaying some of the pedestrianised areas. About three different work groups playing tunes with their electric saws as they cut up new tiles. But lovely once you're away from those areas.

Don't know if you plan to drive and if you're familiar with the parking voucher system they use. You need to purchase them in advance before parking and display them - we didn't know that until we parked and ended up paying nearly £10 for about 4 hours parking instead of £4.

Have a lovely time; I love Jersey! My Mum was from there; we went in the 70's as a family, and I went with DH in 2016.
My sister was just there for the 80th Liberation Day celebration, and hopefully visiting some relatives (not very many there now).

There are so many lovely beaches, some are quite a climb down from the parking lots, but worth the walk. We stayed with relatives, but if I went back again now I would probably stay around St Brelade.

Thanks AmberGran. Sounds like the place is very busy. We're not taking a car as we're flying from Scotland. Will pack light summer clothes and some layers. Sounds like I should pack ear plugs too. That church sounds beautiful. I'll add it to my list of things to do in Jersey. Hope you're keeping OK and not overdoing things.

The one thing we love about Jersey is how uncrowded it is. St Helier town centre can be busy especially around lunchtime but it is the only really big place in Jersey the rest is very quiet.
Worth a walk in the high street just for de Gruchy and Voisins two large department stores.
Jersey can be breezy it's a very small island

I am sure you will enjoy yourselves. If you are using the buses to get around the Libery bus app is very useful. Also you can pick up a very good bus timetable from the bus station in St Helier.
Most of the buses run out of St Helier bus station to the rest of the island. Also sightseeing tours if that takes your fancy. There is a kiosk for these on Liberation Square.

Aveline Definitely layers and enough to keep you warm. Wicked northerly wind today, and sadly I haven't enough warm layers so I've really felt it Lovely in a nice sheltered spot out of the wind. Went to the war tunnels today - bit chilly in there too, with the air being blown around. Then up to see the puffins and the beach at Plemont. Everywhere is beautiful of course.

DH is enjoying his early morning walk on the beach and from our apartment window we have a clear view of the sunset out to sea every evening while we sit on the balcony. His therapy starts again on Monday so I'm hoping he will be feeling a bit fitter and more relaxed beforehand.

That sounds lovely. Very relaxing and therapeutic in itself. Maybe you could another booking to celebrate him finishing his treatment?

To be honest Erica23 the island is only about 12 miles wide so wherever you stay you're not far from beaches and walks. St Helier was the only place I saw any shops - there are a few dotted around the island in places like Red House but they're not really shopping centres. St Aubin was lovely, nice harbour, had a lovely meal in an art gallery with a dining area outside, little electrified train to get into St Helier if you don't want to drive. Parking is quite difficult though.

The best walk we did was in Plemont when we went to see the puffin sculptures, but it was very windy. We stayed in Discovery Bay simply because it was available for a last minute booking. It's a surfing area, and we initially thought it was going to be a mistake because of potential late night noise but actually it was great with the beach to walk on, the Wetland bird sanctuary across the road and a few nice and friendly cafes to eat in.

We're planning on a second visit in September at the moment. One thing that's worth checking - depending on where you sail from you may find one of your journeys is overnight. For us it was the return. We were too late to book a cabin and it was pretty miserable even though we booked the special reclining seats, so by the time we got back we'd been 24 hours without sleep.

The journey home, sounds very tiring. We would be flying I’ve only to look at the water and I’m queasy ! At least you’ve learnt the ropes now. Have a lovely time.

Hello! We're here in St Aubin now. Jersey has bowled us over. It's lovely and reminds me of how the UK used to be. Some great walks (not that we've done any) Everywhere is lush and green. Very good food everywhere. I now understand the fuss about Jersey Royals. It's not cheap and there don't seem to be any fast food outlets. Maybe that's why there is no litter at all. Suits us.
Our hotel is a lovely old-fashioned place but up a requiring a pretty tough walk back up. Good for our souls though and helps to walk off the Jersey Royals.
Lots of sea swimming going on . Come on in everyone!

We've just rebooked for September Aveline - dependent obviously on DH's condition. Hopefully it will still be nice and warm then. Hope you have a lovely time. Have you found the art gallery in St Aubin with the restaurant attached? Down a narrow lane just off the harbour - very quiet. Had a lovely lunch there.

We had a great time. I think we accidentally went at the ideal time of year. Everywhere was so lush and gorgeous. Enjoy your next visit.

We love Jersey. We took my grandson last year and his best experience was the fabulous car showroom near the airport!
He pestered and pestered until we took him. All I can say is the young man in charge was delightful, even gave me a cup of tea whilst the child sat in all sorts of very upmarket vehicles.
A rather unusual tourist destination but apparently the best day ever!
I enjoyed the glass church last time we went, it had always been closed on previous visits. Fabulous Lalique glass, lovely.
We passed it on the bus to St. Helier. We don’t bother with a car, we seem to be able to access anywhere we want to go by bus or on foot.
We have always stayed in St helier and the bus hub is easy to access.
It’s sort of half abroad. Do go if you can.
