I can't be the only Countdown fan on GN, can I? My dad introduced me to it early in its life. I think he fancied Carol. Now Jeff Stelling has gone. An amiable host, but the way he sucked his teeth was driving me crazy. Does anyone know who is to be the next host? BTW, that was a good final, wasn't it?

We like watching it too Annobel. Then we turn over and watch Chiffres et Lettres on French TV. Much easier in French as you get a word and you can add all those different endings on for all the verb forms. You need a lot of Es though.
Couldn't bear Carol though and Rachel is much better at maths. Think the new host is something to do with The Apprentice.

Meant to add it has always made me laugh over the years how the adverts are aimed at an older audience; incontinence pads, earwax remover, denture fixative etc

The new host is Nick Hewer(sp?) who is/was Alan Sugar's right hand man. He has a very dry sense of humour.

We all loved it, but after Richard Whitely died we thought it should die as well. We tried watching Des Lynam, but it didn`t really work with him, then quite enjoyed Des O`Connor`s spell on there, but stopped watching altogether after trying 2 programmes with the new presenters, they were so bland. Nobody will ever really replace dear Richard.

Just heard Nick Hewer introduced on HIGNFY as next Countdown host. That's going to be a change of tone!

Did you watch it Annobel? He was very funny.

Yes, he has a very dry wit which I appreciate. Not as warm and cuddly as some of the former Countdown hosts.

Will defininatley start watching again if Nick is presenting I find his dry wit very entertaining.

Oh dear, I am disappointed in Nick Hewer. If he doesn't unbend and stop saying 'well done' every ten seconds, I will have to stop watching.

Yes I agree. We watched the first one and the decided to give him a month or so to settle down.
