The lovely David Attenborough is on Desert Island Discs telling us about his favourite eight islands.

Done!

I think it is the 70th birthday of the programme.

I remember listening to it after the 1 o'clock news when I came home from school for lunch. That was in the days of the late Roy Plomley, though not quite 70 years ago.

Think it is the 3rd time David has been on the programme ...will catch-up with it Friday morning.

Don`t have a radio anymore, sadly.

Greatnan Islands??

Numberplease I could easily live without a television, but not without a radio! Please let us know you main source of world info. (If you know what I mean)

The trailer for it mentioned islands! He could read out the telephone directory and I would still love it.

Phoenix, my sources these days are TV news and the internet. We had a radio since the year dot, until a few years ago, when the last music centre gave up the ghost. I wouldn`t be able to listen anymore anyway, because hubby and daughter are telly addicts, it`s hardly ever off!
And, returning to the actual topic, I used to love Desert Island Discs, especially the theme tune, By the Sleepy Lagoon.

I often listen to radio on my digital TV, because it gives the title and artist of any music played. If I try to listen out for this information on the radio I always miss it!
I love David A's voice. Today I saw a trailer for BBC nature programmes, to which he recited the words of a song ('What a wonderful World' I think but not sure), he did it beautifully!

Like Phoenix I would rather give up my TV than my radio.I have radio4 on whenever I'm in the kitchen and a small digital radio in my bedroom.
3 yrs ago I treated myself to a Bose basic sound system.expensive but have never regretted it .The sound quality is great and it takes up so little space
