They were preceded by Page Eight (not 9 ) which was made in 2011. Should get it on iPlayer?

I picked up both on Catch-up, but hadn't realised that Turks and Caicos came before Salting the Battlefield. Was there another one, then? Before both/either of these episodes? I liked it - even though I was a bit mixed up....

That's true but did I miss something or was everything back to square one and with the awful AB promoted (sort of) rather than brought to justice? And was it all orchestrated by that awful woman with the orange hair and lips and violin-string neck? Had our chaps done a good job or been puppets all along? I think I need to watch it again...

I thought the ending was good, given these two characters, what could really have happened. It was never going to be a happy ever after scenario.

Mmmmmm... not sure about the ending. Thoughts anyone?

berdie funny you should say that about Tinker Tailor. After watching T&C, I actually dug out my DVD for Tinker Tailor. I think it is something to do with the quiet voice. I remember reading that Alec Guinness did it on purpose because it gave him space to use his voice with more subtlety.

I did enjoy T&C. Partly because listening to Bill Nighy is always a joy, but also because I thought there was some excellent acting, great setting and - really unusually - there was absolutely NO on screen sex or violence. Also had a chuckle at the inclusion in the plot of the money-grubbing prime minister TB-a-like, mollie (I see in today's paper he, the real one, is worth an estimated £70 million. I mean, how???)

I thought the first part, Page 8 was very good, and Thursdays episode, Turks and Caicos, was equally as good. Anything as GrannyTwice said with Bill Nighy, in is worth watching. Reminded me a little of Alec Guinness in Tinker, Tailor. Looking forward to the last episode.

Next week, Caz... they've played them one a week without really saying they are connected, I missed the replaid first and wouldn't have noticed the third had I not caught the voice-over at the end of T&C (usually off to the kitchen at that point)

Yes I noticed the inference Mollie. I watched it on IPlayer, so cleverly written and superb actors, not sure when the final part is being shown, I believe there are three?

We enjoyed it, it was a bit complicated it's true, but when so much tv is dumbed down, this was a refreshing change.

First part was called Page 9 and third part is Salting the Battlefield. I too could watch anything with BN in it but I thought this was great with some very funny lines.

Did anyone else noticed the ghost of the evil Tony Blurgh being written as the grasping PM they referred to last night?

Warning - each part of the trilogy has a different title...I can't recall what the other two are but a google will help!

Bill Nighy...sigh As for the plot/story/theme...I was no wiser when the credits came up than I was when it started. However, Bill certainly does have a way with words. Such a velvety voice. More sighs...

This must be something that the BBC hasn't trailed extensively for a change, considering all the trailers they've put on for Shetland.

I loved the first one, but didn't really see the point of the second, except for Bill Nighy who I love. Not sure we will watch next weeks one.

The first episode was on last week. This second episode wasn't rated highly in Radio times. I haven't watched my recording yet. The final episode I think is next week. It will be advertised either in RT or other TV publications.

Have recorded it, but didn't realise I was supposed to have seen something last year and have to wait for next year for the final part. May not bother to watch then
