The best episode of One Foot in the Grave was when they were stuck in a traffic jam with Mrs wotsername though.

I have only watched the first one and I found it amusing in places.

The last few minutes made me smile with the neighbour, when PK laughed I laughed with him .

Mrs Warboys - beautifully played by Doreen Mantle... she suddenly arrived in the car halfway through the episode, having been foraging somewhere, emphasizing how long they had been stuck in immobile traffic!

And they ate 'sucky sweets'. I don't eat sweets very often [teeth aren't up to it] but still call them 'sucky sweets' when I do.

Ana, I hadn't been absolutely sure what the term 'dogging' meant either, and I'm much, much older than thirty something ! I did gather it wasn't a wee walk down Lovers Lane with the family pooch, though! In fact I was so naïve that I hadn't realised until I was about 50 why condoms might be flavoured....!
I did like the programme though. I thought the second episode was better than the first and I did laugh out loud !

I missed the first episode but have enjoyed the last two. I think the dialogue is most amusing and his companion in the car is endearingly naive but chatty and a great foil for Peter Kay. I love the characters. It's gentle comedy and quite absorbing. When they drive home I am left wanting more.

"Bride of Chucky" cracked me up! I see BoC every morning when I get out of bed.

I caught up with tele last night and realised I probably watched the second episode first. Whatever I enjoyed both of them and you pathetically find yourself saying , "Oh go on, ask her out for a date".

My kind of banter.

I'm really enjoying it - watched it mainly because I heard a pompous guy on the radio saying how awful it was but that it would appeal to some people - and thought to myself, yep I don't like the sound of you so will give it a go! I'm like that. Anyway, watched it and whilst I agree the urine bit was pretty noxious (but horrible things DO happen) and possibly a bit unnecessary, I am gripped by the completely voyeuristic element (am ashamed to admit) of watching two, very ordinary people live their life. Sad but true......

I've never watched Peter Kay before but had recorded two episodes of this new comedy and watched one this evening.

I thoroughly enjoyed the understated humour and the touches of pathos. I thought the "dogging" storyline and the discussion about music choices for your funeral were very funny. These two characters felt like "real" people to me - and I think the radio station in the background is a masterpiece of inanity.

I'm not sure that it would appeal to a thirties something audience though - I don't think my son would enjoy it.

Eloethan - our family late 20's and 30 somethings are loving it. Party I suspect because Peter Kay is well known in our area but mostly because one of their big friendship group has a walk on part. He is the very handsome young man who replaces the "irreplaceable" Ted the trolly pusher. I was shown a clip of him pushing trollies and over acting yesterday - fabulous!

Having caught the first one by accident I make a point of watching now and think it is developing nicely.

Love it - it was my son who first introduced me to PK in Phoenix Nights - which I adored.

I actually found the Urine sample bit the only funny part. The rest was predictable and tedious. I never liked the scripted 'Phoenix Nights' but love Peter Kay stand up shows and interviews where he is spontaneous. 'Emergency chairs' and the Quality Street tin full of sewing stuff are brilliant observations (for those of you who have heard them) and so true to life.

Have made a point of watching Peter Kay ever since Phoenix Nights which I thoroughly enjoyed. So agree with all you say about this new series ,Eloethan and would urge you to try to see videos of Phoenix Nights if possible!

Another good one tonight! Kayleigh really is rather endearing, with her quirks and strange beliefs, e.g.dinosaurs didn't exist.

BTW did anyone else notice the fleeting glimpse of a blackboard outside a pub bearing the message 'Buy one meal for the price of two!'?

It was great - especially the phone conversation with his work colleague.

besottedgran If I see any Phoenix Nights DVDs in a charity shop, I'll get one (are they on DVDs or would they be on videotape - I don't know how old the series is - don't have a video machine now).

besottedgran. All to buy on Amazon, or ebay for second-hand. I think the chances of a charity shop find is rare, as they would ebay it!
