I enjoyed it, too. They make a good pair. I think I've read all the Tommy and Tuppence books, so it was bound to grab my interest.

Yes, a good start to the series.

Good cast, great clothes and sets, very atmospheric. Good Sunday evening programme which isn't so demanding I can't do a bit of knitting as I watch.

I hadn't heard of the Tommy and Tuppence books before but enjoyed the first episode of the series. Light-hearted with a bit of suspense; and the characters are complementary and well acted.

There weren't many of them anno compared to the Marple and Poirot, but one or two have been adapted for television ,one with (I think ) Greta Sacchi playing Tuppence in a very bizzare portrayal. I can't remember the title.

Having nothing better to do I googled it and it was By The Pricking Of My Thumbs, in which they were written into a Marple book. What Agatha would have thought we will never know.

Fell asleep half way through! Will watch rest on catch up.........if I can stay awake!

A bit of light hearted fun for Sunday night. "A bit of rampant something would be nice!"

We enjoyed it but it was all a bit lightweight and silly compared to, say, Foyles Cold War which was far more realistic.

We then watched the final part of Joanna Lumley's Trans Siberian thingy which has been excellent. She is so self assured that she doesn't keep shoving herself in front of the camera and shouting at it like Caroline Quentin and lightly brushed off any discomfort that a lengthy train journey might bring. She knew exactly when to let the breathtaking scenery speak for itself and when to ham up the flirting with whoever was showing her around.

The expression on her face when she realised a small vodka was actually a large tumbler full was priceless.

She looks great for her age as well.

We thought it was ok , but not gripping, however no Agatha Christie thing is really.A rather camp performance from Walliams though.I like all the 1950's fashions too.

I'm enjoying this but DH finds it too slow so I shall have to record it and watch later.

I didn't think Walliams' usual campness was much in evidence - he seemed rather vague and dispirited to me.

I suppose it was fair Sunday evening viewing, but apart from the hats it was nothing special.

I found it boring I'm afraid. ditto the new series about the Bloomesbury lot which started tonight; I was really looking forward to that [thinking it might be like the series about the Pre Raphaelites that Aidan Coleman [sigh/drool] was in a few years back.

I gave up on the Bloomsbury lot after about 15 mins.

You mean just after they threw their corsets out of the window....

That was a defining moment!

I started watching the *Living in Squares" (Bloomsbury set) . It is bit vague I will try again next weekand if I CBA I will stop.

BBC radio 4 has had several series of a really good comedy called "Gloomsbury" written by Sue Limb. It a very funny parady on this lot, far more entertaining than this new TV series .

Does anybody remember the earlier series with Francesca Annis as a rather delicious Tuppence, and James Warwick as Tommy? It was set closer to the time of the novels - I seem to recall them meeting while at a loose end after the end of WWI...

Yes; I would imagine that Francesca Annis was far more watchable than the lady in this new series! Strangely enough Nellie, I have Sue Limbs' 'Up the Garden Path' in front of me; been meaning to re read it for ages. Just wasted three hours of my life watching The Place Beyond the Pines on Film4, thinking that something might happen or I might at least start to care about at least one person in the film. All I can think is that, at least I didn't sit for three hours + in a cinema watching it.

I loved Partners in Crime and watched it twice. Never done this before.

Did anyone notice that Mr. Hanson from Holby was in "Living in Squares." As a Holby fan it felt weird.

I think the whole cast in Partners in Crime was really good, especially Jessica Rains. I did spend quite a bit of time trying to remember who Tommy's uncle was. That happens a lot - wracking my brains to recall what else someone has been in!

I only watched Partners in Crime for a few minutes because I got so cross that she was carrying all those bags and a suitcase! And they were clearly empty which made it even worse!

Life in Squares confused me because I couldn't hear it very well, so I wasn't sure who was putting what where!!
