A good solid BBC production, but I have a question for knowledgeable Gransnetters.

Is it the anatomists or the costumiers who decree that women in costume dramas can survive in so many fewer layers of clothing than men, even in huge draughty palaces in Russia?

I loved it too, but I wish there had been more episodes instead of cramming it into just six.

I thought it was a wonderful production, beautifully shot, very good cast especially Paul Dano. So impressed might buy the box set when it's released, I hardly ever do that but I'd like to watch it all again.

I thought it was brilliant and agree that it could have been extended to more episodes. I think the Beeb underestimate the staying power of it's audience.

I believe posh upper crust women at that time didn't venture out much in inclement weather which may explain the flimsy dresses to a certain extent, but the tiny shawls they drape around themselves are far too small, I understood they were much, much larger and cosier for everyday use. Also long gloves and thick stockings would have been worn which makes a big difference.

Paul Dano grew on me as Pierre, when thinking about it that was what was supposed to happen, that he grew as a person during the time period. Very good.

I'm glad the ending was a bit different to the one in the book which was a bit dismal. I do like a happy ending (albeit after all the trauma).

Next we have James Norton as Tommy Lee Jones, not sure I want to watch

Mahoosive catch up today and I really enjoyed it. As I mentioned previously I had not read the book so I didn't have any issues as to facts nor story line . The sets were excellent ,

Loved it! Paul Danone as Pierre was brilliant.

Dano! Can't get on with this iPad! I'll miss W & P on Sunday nights. DH watches it too but he draws the line at Call the Midwife!

Okay, so after my derogatory comments about Paul Dano to begin with, he did win me over in the end! I might have married him myself! Shame they crammed it all into six episodes.

Same here re Paul Dano; ditto Lily James [whose teeth seemed to get smaller each week]. I'm glad I stuck with it as, by the end I was loving it enormously.
