Pointless tonight

I came into it late - why was camembert not allowed for words ending in ...ert? It's driving me nuts not knowing!

Wasn't watching but perhaps it had to be English words. Camembert would be French.

I think it's because it's a proper noun, a one off, unique capitalized name.

Was it out because it was too popular to be listed among the low-points answers? I've not watched Pointless for a while, but the answers that come straight into your mind are not the ones that win.

No, elegran it scored 100 as "incorrect". I can only think 're the silent "t" but that doesn't seem fair.

Durhamjen and Jusnoneed were right. It was disallowed because it was a proper noun, which Richard had said at the start. Harsh, but rules are rules.
