On BBC 2 tonight series 3 of Line of Duty returns. It has 5 stars in my newspaper.

I have just watched the whole of series 2 on BBC IPlayer, even though I had seen it before it really was gripping and to be honest I had forgotten most of the twists and turns.

Enjoy smile

I think all those mobile phones ringing out on Dot's desk after the retrial verdict was proof, if any were needed, of his dodginess! grin

Dot wasn't meeting Harri - he was 're-examining the scene of a crime'. I apologise for saying that people didn't need to have seen the previous series although I did and I'm still confused

Charleygirl Fri 08-Apr-16 21:16:23

The hangman's rope was there, who was that for?

tanith Fri 08-Apr-16 22:07:28

Charleygirl 'dot' had put that there so that he could imply that Harri had intended to kill him (dot I mean) when the armed unit arrived to arrest Harri. That way no one would doubt that Harri had also killed Rod previously.

Ana Fri 08-Apr-16 22:12:33

But we don't know that tanith, do we? I don't remember a scene where he was shown doing it.

tanith Fri 08-Apr-16 22:16:22

But isn't it pretty obvious Ana? Who else would of done it? It makes perfect sense to me. We'll find out in the next series I'm sure.

Ana Fri 08-Apr-16 22:18:41

Yes, I know it makes sense - but we can't be sure!

tanith Fri 08-Apr-16 22:24:12

Ok its my 'take' on things , we'll have to wait to find out.

tanith Fri 08-Apr-16 22:34:26

I also realise I said next 'series' when I meant next episode blush

I just love it I was shouting at the screen in the latest episode

For those who haven't watched the first two series, there's no doubt about Dot - he's corrupt. We don't know what he's up to in this series yet though. It did look like he is starting to crack under the strain. We've never seen anything about his personal life before, so the scene in his flat with Kate was unnerving. And we've not seen him make mistakes before, like not ordering the 2nd post mortem and then telling a traceable lie about it. He's never been sloppy.

Every series has been the same - full of twists and turns. Brilliant.

Although i am enjoying this series i do find it quite scary!!!

If you harbor any thoughts that the police can not be trusted this series will certainly reinforce those feelings.

The whole crew seem to be dodgy and are doing awful things to each other.
Plus they are in charge of weapons which means you should be able to trust them and any decisions they make 100%.

Not doing the police service any favors i am afraid.

kittylester Fri 15-Apr-16 07:59:47

OK, I watched it last night, can someone tell me what's going on now please? I think I might have to watch it again. Though I did enjoy that Keeley Hawes bit! grin

Pittcity Fri 15-Apr-16 08:03:40

I need a bit of help too kitty.
Do you mean the bit when she gave him what he deserved?

Iam64 Fri 15-Apr-16 08:11:09

It's gripping and very dark isn't it. Keeley Hawes is brilliant. Is the boss involved? I don't think he is, despite the Masonic handshake. Dot is terrifying - I am not entirely sure what's going on either.

PRINTMISS Fri 15-Apr-16 08:30:54

It is really very good indeed, isn't it? I am now not sure about Dot, I think he is being made to look the obvious choice. I really have no idea who the bad boy is, but I am looking forward to finding out.

TerriBull Fri 15-Apr-16 09:35:49

Keeley Hawes is proving herself to be a good character actress, she's a million miles removed in Line of Duty from the Mrs Durrell matriarch of Sunday evening.

I love it! So many twists and turns. I really do t know who to trust, but I hope the female PC who researched the forensics is OK.

I think Dot is definitely the bent one and is very good at framing the officers around him - I think that he is now very nervous and will make a mistake - I thought the mobile phones were lined up in his flat. Had not realised the little fellow was married to a policewoman - he knows that Lindsay Denton can maybe help him find the Caddie - and it is in both their interests to work together really despite her now working in Asda. I wonder if Dot will now frame Kate in some way too - she seems to be trusting him above the others.

tanith Fri 15-Apr-16 10:54:12

I'm sure there are going to be a few more jaw dropping moments to this series, don't want to believe that Hastings is involved in the child abuse but that Jill has some dark secret I'm sure.
I think Dot is going to somehow implicate Steve and get him arrested and what did he do with Maneet? she's the one in uniform on the computer all the time she's gone 'sick' Dot said, I wonder!
Oh and Steve isn't married to that woman she's his girlfriend and a murder squad officer..
Love the way Nige kept some insurance for himself by NOT giving Dot that phone and sim card he was supposed to and did Dot have that gun in his pocket to kill him if he didn't hand it over? . I do like Neil Morrisey in this but there are so many new questions..
Great series..

Charleygirl Fri 15-Apr-16 13:35:06

I was surprised when Dot did not kill Nigel after he thought that Nigel had handed over everything. I was pleased to see that Nigel had kept some insurance for later.

I do hope that Hastings is above board - it is a very good series.

merlotgran Fri 15-Apr-16 13:41:55

I too thought Nigel was a gonner but maybe Dot had his hand on the gun just in case things got nasty.

Hastings gives me the creeps.

gettingonabit Fri 15-Apr-16 16:47:22

I can't make up my mind about Hastings. I want to believe he's 'clean" but......I can't understand why he's so in with Dot )unless he wants to keep an eye on him). Kate is also easily taken in by Dot-why?

And where's Maneet?

I'm intrigued as to what Denton had on the tape. She played a blinder last night with creepy bloke!

I don't understand how she got a job so quickly, particularly with a record. Unless she had a job given to her under some "scheme"? Wouldn't she need a DBS check overinvests?

Alima Fri 15-Apr-16 17:00:08

Really enjoying this. Managing to suss out who is who with the aid of iplayer and Google.
When the BBC are good there is no beating them. I am all for more money being spent on drama rather than cooking progs and some of the dumbed-down documentaries they are so keen on.

Eloethan Fri 15-Apr-16 17:37:35

It's brilliant isn't it - the actors are all so good and the plot is gripping and quite sinister. I like the way the writer has set it up so that everybody is starting to mistrust everyone else - except for the person they should mistrust - Dot.

I did see the last series but have forgotten some of the details. Although I think Steve and Denton formed some sort of close friendship, I can't remember if they actually had sex. I'm going to try and find a site that does a recap.
