"Alas poor Scruff, I knew him well, who could forget that pungent smell?"

www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/1zmk9WYY1V6Qkh4nJ2C3qL7/the-archers-trial-week-the-evidence
I have found this very useful as a reminder.not sure how to do a proper link.

LullyDully Thu 01-Sept-16 12:40:43

Seems to work however.

The Archers: is it legal?

A lovely article by the amazing Mary Beard. She is asking many of the things we ask.

Gracesgran Thu 01-Sept-16 19:24:12

Will Kaz's words be enough? Please SWs we need Helen to hear what she was saying.

Iam64 Thu 01-Sept-16 19:37:03

Gracesgran -Thanks for the link to the very excellent Mary Beard's article. She is spot in her comment that we can miss 18 months but slide happily back into TA. The high spots she mentions are all favourites of mine, with the exception of Grace Archer's death in the fire, that happened before my time but of course, its impossible to be an addict without hearing the details many times.

Kaz has at last been direct with Helen, well as direct as either of them ever are. She clearly (?) suggested or reminded Helen that they are alike in having made big mistakes in the men they chose. Her comments suggested she knows that Helen knows they were both raped by those men. I do wish she's been even more direct as I'm certain her character would have been in these circumstances. It doesn't matter though, because without using the R word she was clear with Helen that she must tell her brief everything, or lose her children. I wonder if Helen heard us all shouting at the radio.

Will Jennifer's anger and support of Adam's refusal to work with Rob lead her to talk about what Stefan told her about Rob blocking the culvert.

Where is Stefan?

midgey Thu 01-Sept-16 19:46:18

I have always wondered about Stefan, I'm sure Rob murdered him. I have no reason except his sudden disappearance and if it wasn't Scruff in the silage that gave the cows botulism....perhaps it was Stefan!

merlotgran Thu 01-Sept-16 19:47:56

Jennifer really should talk to David. He was chairman of the flood committee at the time wasn't he?

Adam needs to ring Charlie - How many times have we said this??

So easy to start the ball rolling to discredit Rob but what are they doing? Absolute bugger all.

merlotgran Thu 01-Sept-16 19:51:47

Hard to believe that the Bridge Farm lot have know about Rob's appointment since last Sunday but didn't think to ring Brian/Jenny/Adam?

Iam64 Thu 01-Sept-16 20:04:06

merlot, sounds like you're getting fed up, I did enjoy your 'absolute bugger all'.
Maybe the Bridge Farm lot assumed that Brian/Jenny/Adam knew about Rob's appointment and are saying to each other, 'they knew and they've done absolutely bugger all'.
Let's not push Adam into phoning Charlie, just as things between him and Ian are running smoothly. Jennifer can ring Charlie because she knows from Stefan about Rob blocking the ** culvert.
Midgey - I'm with you on what happened to Stefan. It wasn't Stefan dripping poison onto the silage, it was a fox,or so we are led to believe. I have no difficulty blaming Rob for the fox either. He hunts, so finding half a fox shouldn't be beyond him should it.

Gracesgran Thu 01-Sept-16 20:33:16

I just don't think Jennifer and David will connect the culvert blocking with the information needed against Rob to defend Helen. I don't know about each of you, but 'bad character' has more of a meaning to me now than it ever did.

I would have thought Adam and Charlie might be in touch though. What did Charlie go to do? It's a pity the job is just running the Damara Capital's Borchester estates. If he was coming in over Charlie as well I am sure they would speak to one another.

The fox/dog could just have died. I am not sure you could ever prove Rob put it in the feed - unless someone saw him.

merlotgran Thu 01-Sept-16 20:48:12

Jennifer and David don't need to connect the culvert blocking with Helen's defence but it wouldn't hurt to draw Justin's attention to the fact that he's employing a man to run DC's estates who may not be all that he seems.

We still don't know if Adam knows that Ian knows about you know what!

If he does then Charlie has nothing to fear from spilling a few beans re Rob's mismanagement of the mega dairy.

Gracesgran Thu 01-Sept-16 21:22:04

I thought Charlie was more concerned about Justin knowing and Adam more concerned about Ian knowing. It was such a little thing that it may be better out in the open.

I wonder if Stefan could turn up - dead or alive - after the trial is over. The trial would be more realistic without that interfering and it would be the end of Rob's reputation (which won't be brilliant, whatever the outcome) once and for all in Borsetshire.

Gracesgran Thu 01-Sept-16 21:26:28

Does Justin have a masterplan to bring down Rob and 8 other Archers theories

merlotgran Thu 01-Sept-16 21:27:05

What will happen if Helen is found Not Guilty and Pat and Tony get custody of the boys? Helen will no doubt return to Bridge Farm as well so even if he is discredited won't Rob still be a threat to any future happiness and stability?

Gracesgran Thu 01-Sept-16 21:35:08

Rob is Jack's dad so I would have thought they would let him have some contact even if it is supervised. That could actually be quite hard on Henry who could feel he must have done something for 'Daddy' not to want to see him. (I wish I hadn't thought that it's pretty unbearable for the children).

shysal Fri 02-Sept-16 08:39:17

We didn't hear Rob's interview with Justin. I did wonder whether there was some blackmail going on.

I hope Helen will wake up in time for the trial, fingers crossed!

merlotgran Fri 02-Sept-16 09:09:51

And so say all of us

I agree - Please Pat don't stuff it up!

Gracesgran Fri 02-Sept-16 09:17:15

Only TWO DAYS to the trial of Helen Titchener. Here's everything you need to know. (or so says the Beebgrin) The trial of Helen Titchener

merlotgran Fri 02-Sept-16 09:25:00

Every time I see a picture of Rob Titchener I remember my grandmother telling me never to trust a man with no earlobes!

Eloethan Fri 02-Sept-16 13:26:02

This all sounds so interesting that I'm tempted to get back into the Archers again.

merlot My granddad used to say something similar about ear lobes!

LullyDully Fri 02-Sept-16 19:17:41

And the rapes Helen, come on girl.

merlotgran Fri 02-Sept-16 19:21:27

How many of us were yelling, 'RAPE' at the radio? grin

Gracesgran Fri 02-Sept-16 19:26:13

Will she remember in the middle of the trial? She is getting there but will it be in time?

I do think Anna has been used and abused by the SWs.

merlotgran Fri 02-Sept-16 19:36:51

Odd the way the Bridge Farm lot talk about Kaz as though she's an old family friend.

phoenix Fri 02-Sept-16 19:44:26

Agree merlot but I suppose that they sort of understood that she was good support for Helen.

Yes, I was among those shouting"rape, you daft woman!" at the radio!
