"Alas poor Scruff, I knew him well, who could forget that pungent smell?"

mumofmadboys Fri 02-Sept-16 19:45:20

I don't think it is that odd as they must be so pleased Helen has a friend and that Kaz has taken their daughter/ sister to her heart.

Lazigirl Fri 02-Sept-16 20:44:27

Me too Merlot and Phoenix. They're saving it for maximum effect during trial??

Gracesgran Fri 02-Sept-16 21:13:23

I think they will have been having a lot of conversations with Helen on the phone and she will have been talking about Kaz as the only person she seems to have got to know. Although she will have acknowledged Anna's visits I would doubt she has gone into detail so talking about Kaz would deflect from things she may not wish to talk about. I think that way they will have got a sense of 'knowing' Kaz.

From what I have been reading about women in Helen's situation it would be more likely that she couldn't face some of the things that happened and facing the rape must be particularly difficult. It would be truer to RL for Helen not to be able to say but I hope 'Helen' becomes one of the few who can.

Rape and throwing Easter Eggs/ rabbit in th bin!!!!!!

phoenix Sat 03-Sept-16 10:55:31

May I suggest that we stock up on throat pastilles, whisky, honey and lemon, because I feel there may be a lot of shouting at the radio in the weeks ahead!

merlotgran Sat 03-Sept-16 11:36:23

I think Rob is first up so I might raid DD's supply of Rescue Remedy.

LullyDully Sat 03-Sept-16 12:00:30

We must all hold hands ( metaphorical of course.) and keep our fingers crossed. I am not looking forward to hearing Rob , Ursula and his lot. I know it will make me very angry.

I just hope Henry remembers the bad times and not just his iPad and cricket.

merlotgran Sat 03-Sept-16 14:01:24

Henry was interviewed by the police after stabgate so I think any questioning (via video link) will be based on the information he's already given them.

At least that's what happened when I was a juror on a GBH case. The defendant's seven year old son was a witness.

Whatever happened, I think Henry has told them quite a bit because didn't the police woman say, 'Poor little boy, he saw it all' - or something like that?

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 03-Sept-16 14:10:05

merlot grin (Rescue Remedy)

jinglbellsfrocks Sat 03-Sept-16 14:11:59

Pat was always a feminist. She would be sympathetic about Kaz.

merlotgran Sat 03-Sept-16 14:22:25

Pat's feminist principles seemed to go AWOL for a while but she's sort of regained them now. Just hope she employs the 'less is more' approach when questioned but I doubt she'll be able to resist saying too much her bit.

merlotgran Sat 03-Sept-16 18:16:13

Another update of the Mumsnet spoiler thread

My lips are sealed!

merlotgran Sun 04-Sept-16 11:07:17

There's even going to be a court artist

DH reckons we're all going daft grin

Gracesgran Sun 04-Sept-16 14:17:18

Helen's new haircut I see

Only daft in a nice way tell him merlot. If you think how people still discuss the death of Grace Archer all those years ago I have a feeling this will be under discussion for years smile. With a few caveats I think they have done it very well.

I heard today that they are talking about schools teaching sex and relationships as opposed to just the biology. The story of Helen could be used as an example of how not to shock

Gracesgran Sun 04-Sept-16 14:36:39

Are you all prepared for this evening? I assume it is Monday in Borsetshire - do we need to pack a picnic? I will save seats if I am first; we need to make sure we can all have a good view. What is 'court' dress do you think? How many boxes of tissues?

Lazigirl Sun 04-Sept-16 14:47:54

I am queuing outside court already. Hope we don't get ejected for hissing and booing when Rob and Ursula appear. I have got some paste sandwiches if anyone wants to share.

AyjayF Sun 04-Sept-16 15:00:03

Ha,ha!! Brilliant Lazigirl. ???????

merlotgran Sun 04-Sept-16 15:11:18

I think my bottle of mineral water will actually contain a stiff G&T for when Rob is questioned. I notice in the picture he's gone back to using a stick angry

I bet he doesn't wave the stick around when he's coaching interfering with the village cricket team.

Gracesgran Sun 04-Sept-16 16:33:31

Well spotted merlot - I missed that but, as was said in another courtroom so many years ago, he would wouldn't he grin

grin Lazigirl!

I have a horrible feeling Rob will sound really kind and caring to start with but I will put a bottle of fizz in the fridge to have ready to bring along and cheer if Helen is not guilty though and to drown our sorrows (my worry that she will be guilty of the lesser chargesad) if not.

Do we think the trial will last all week?

Gracesgran Sun 04-Sept-16 16:38:49

He-he. I have just discovered that "he would wouldn't he" has its own internet abbreviation: MRDA which stands for Mandy Rice-Davies Applies. The things you learn on Google!

Iam64 Sun 04-Sept-16 17:27:19

MRD coined an excellent phrase there didn't she.

Right, I've got some very nice cheese and posh biscuits, white wine, tea, mineral water and my knitting. I got a new pattern for a jumper for 12 month old yesterday, the wool is what we used to call rainbow wool, i.e. it's a mix of blue/green/yellow. I plan to sit in court, knitting whilst listening, watching and processing the evidence, body language, intakes of breath, mutterings under breath ( Ursula won't be able to stop herself, neither I fear will Pat).

Ok, all set.

merlotgran Sun 04-Sept-16 17:51:48

I've just had a thought.....Won't Pat have to stay outside the courtroom until she's given evidence which I think is on Wednesday?

After that she'll definitely have to put a sock in it.

Lazigirl Sun 04-Sept-16 18:49:24

Iam Please don't bring knitting - reminds me of French Revolution and Guillotines.

merlotgran Sun 04-Sept-16 18:59:33

Here we go!!

Gracesgran Sun 04-Sept-16 19:02:52

I'm just moving into my place now they have opened the doors. Lot's of people I don't recognise but so glad to see you are all here.
