It isn't something I usually comment on but

Leslie Joseph is 71 in two weeks time!!!!!!!

Jane10 Mon 03-Oct-16 13:29:14

I'm cynical!

ninathenana Mon 03-Oct-16 13:37:07

I'm another who has every sympathy for her plight but thinks she should have bowed out gracefully, In fact I don't think she should have agreed to compete in the first place.

Charleygirl Mon 03-Oct-16 13:44:40

I totally agree nina and I feel so sorry for Brendan. I am not all that sure who or what she is- is she an actress?

Jalima Mon 03-Oct-16 14:51:01

She's a very well-known (in some circles) American singer

I have heard of her through the DD.

Jalima Mon 03-Oct-16 14:55:33

Ps they think she's a great singer but they won't have watched Strictly

Teetime Mon 03-Oct-16 16:00:10

I like Anastasia (she is a really good singer although we don't hear her so much lately). She has been dogged with poor health not just her breast cancer and I felt very sorry for her dilemma on Saturday although it did seem rather harsh on the man who had to leave- there has to be a better solution to injuries. I think there is precedent - I seem to remember someone getting a couple of weeks off once.

Pittcity Mon 03-Oct-16 17:26:17

I presume they get paid whether they are knocked out in the first round or last, so Cancer Research will not lose out if she quits.

goldengirl Mon 03-Oct-16 17:28:20

I was amazed she was allowed to dance with such an injury! Grossly unfair in my view on the other contestant who didn't get the chance to do better or be knocked out fair and square. AND she's still in. If she's down to the next two in the next dance off - will she get away with it again because of her injury? Sorry to sound bitchy but surely she should have done the decent thing and retired gracefully

Pittcity Mon 03-Oct-16 17:29:41

If you don't know who Anastacia is I expect you've heard her songs bit.ly/2d91Iuf

Wobblybits Mon 03-Oct-16 17:35:35

Do you realise that the controversy over strictly has knocked Brexit off the top of the news.

petra Mon 03-Oct-16 17:49:40

I saw her in concert when she was in her prime, fabulous. Have all her CDs. But I have to say that even without this setback, she wouldn't have stayed the course.

PamelaJ1 Mon 03-Oct-16 18:09:46

I would have thought that if it was too risky for Anastasia to dance again because of her surgery then she shouldn't dance again. No point damaging yourself for a TV program.
Should prospective politicians endear themselves to us before being elected instead of afterwards?

Jane10 Mon 03-Oct-16 20:42:19

confused

BlueBelle Mon 03-Oct-16 20:48:18

Never heard of her either very, very unfair she should have retired gracefully or maybe never gone in the first place if she wasn't fully fit ...

Deedaa Mon 03-Oct-16 21:59:31

I think the fairest thing in a situation like this would have been to send no one home this week. If she is not able to carry on next week then one couple should be voted off as usual. If she is able to carry on then two couples should be voted off next week and then back to normal after that.

LullyDully Tue 04-Oct-16 08:26:32

Apparently they stuck to the rules which have never been needed before. Having tested those rules and been found wanting, they need to reassess them. It was not fair that Melvin should go out without having a chance to redeem himself. Many people.have been in a dance off before and gone through a long way. Not fair.

BlueBelle Tue 04-Oct-16 08:30:54

I guessing anastasia will either get the sympathy vote next week or the punishment vote because she's kinda stole a place when she's not fit enough to take part

Jane10 Tue 04-Oct-16 08:55:13

She's obviously not that popular otherwise she'd have had enough votes to avoid the dance off. That's maybe a bit of a shock to her. I think there's a chance she won't dance at all. Brendans clearly not happy with her.

Wobblybits Tue 04-Oct-16 09:13:29

Watching Ed balls on Breakfast this morning. Seeing a very different side to him from his political persona. Never though of him as a husband and father before, just a politician. He gets my vote for representing Dad dancers like myself.

DanniRae Tue 04-Oct-16 09:32:18

Apparently Janet Street Porter (on Loose Women) has a 'thing' for Ed Balls.

I even mentioned him to my daughter and she thinks he's cute. My husband was lost in amazement when he heard our conversation about him!!

Jalima Tue 04-Oct-16 10:44:45

I had read an article about the Balls family a few years ago; someone was invited to their house for dinner and Ed does all the cooking apparently.

Apparently Janet Street Porter (on Loose Women) has a 'thing' for Ed Balls.
Does Yvette need to start worrying?

POGS Tue 04-Oct-16 10:51:10

I wrote this on ' the other' Strictly thread.

" I must admit I don't know some of the line up but whilst Ed Balls was never my cup of tea politically I hope he does OK. He must be 'up for it' knowing he will not win so shows a self - deprecating nature and I like that in a person, not a starchy knickers.

Never thought I would say this but in this instance 'Go Ed'"

Well he didn't disappoint me.

As for Anastacia I member when she had her cancer diagnosis and subsequent mastectomy operation carried out, she was stoic (at least pubically) and was a good ambassador for other women suffering the awful diagnosis. However I feel that is it is correct she is donating her fee to charity a compromise should be found whereby the charity is given a donation and she exits from the show for the sake of her health , which is by far more important than Strictly. It would be easy to bring back Melvin Odoom and put it down to a factor when doing a 'live' show.

As for Leslie Joseph , 'what a cracking pair of pins '. She is just a little bundle of fun.

Does Yvette Cooper need to start worrying?

No, but Ed might !

BlueBelle Tue 04-Oct-16 13:59:17

Sorry folks but I m having great difficulty putting Ed Balls and cute in the same sentence

DanniRae Tue 04-Oct-16 14:11:28

Ha Ha - I like that DaphneBroon. It really made me laugh - thank you!!
