Strictly's Back

I've just looked at the Strictly line up and wonder if I don't watch enough TV. Who ARE these 'celebrities'? On the picture grid I recognised 3 faces and one extra with a nudge from my OH. I could name only one off the top of my head, but another one because I'd just read about them in an article about Strictly where they were arguing about whether a gay woman should dance with a woman. (She didn't want to; she said she was there to learn to dance, not to make a point about her sexuality, but felt there was pressure on her from the LBTG group.)

I read somewhere that anyone who has been through stage school will have had dance training. That means a lot of celebs, not just DmcG.

Chizzy - flipping phone!

ninathenana Mon 02-Oct-17 07:45:04

I was expecting Ruth or Rev. Richard to go.
Susan is a trier but I don't give her long in the competition or Brian.
I knew Debbie had had training but not Alexandra Moocow

kittylester Mon 02-Oct-17 07:42:34

It definitely shouldn't gave been Chilly!

Blinko Mon 02-Oct-17 07:36:34

How on earth did Brendan and his partner (Mollie something?) get through? Should have been her, not Chizzy who was knocked out. Gah!

I also thought the wrong amateur went out this evening, but then, what do I know?

Charleygirl Sun 01-Oct-17 20:53:15

I read that Debbie Mc Gee did not think that her previous ballet training has held her in good stead. I disagree, she would have learned from an early age or stage, arm and foot positioning and as we know, Craig is a stickler for arm and hand positioning.

Have wardrobe been hitting the bottle? Poor girl who went out tonight, all dress and hair and purple !

Moocow Sun 01-Oct-17 20:16:11

Wrong amateur out, in my opinion. It wasn't her fault that she had to do the story-telling first. Ah well, least she earns the same as anyone else out before end of the month, so that's a bonus for her! Nottooold I agree I like to watch amateurs have the chance to learn and improve. It was fantastic to see Alexandra perform but it's hardly a level playing field!

Sadly it looks as if Anton's been stuck with another no-hoper. I'm sure she's a lovely person but she dances like me! I know the idea of everyone being complete beginners sounds great, but with a programme that goes on for so many weeks I think you need a few people who can produce the "Wow! That's how it should be done!" moments.

I haven't got round to remembering most of their names yet. I liked the large lady called Chizzy last night but not so sure about the purple dress. Jonnie did brilliantly. I read he lost his leg due to meningitis when he was four (his poor mother). He says the whole thing was worse for his mother than it was for him. I felt sorry for the partner of the one who danced to 'You'll never walk alone', she was in tears, poor dear, but I loved her white dress.

I would enjoy Strictly more if none of them had dance training as I like to watch them improve as the weeks go on. To score 8 at this stage just makes a mockery of it in my opinion.

Well I like Brian. He can't dance but he makes me laugh!
I agree with DanniRae, Debby is a beautiful dancer but I just can't warm to her.

DanniRae Sun 01-Oct-17 08:39:29

Week 2 and I am totally hooked again!
Ruth - I like her as a presenter but, sadly, she's just not very good!
Susan - a real trier but what was she wearing?
Jonnie - he is amazing and he makes feel a little emotional to see what he has overcome
Debbie - very good dancer but I find her a little irritating. Can't explain why - may be a little too pleased with herself?
So far my favourite is Alexandra - she is stunning to watch.

Great show again tonight. We had visitors earlier, so recorded Strictly, have just finished watching it.

ninathenana Sat 30-Sept-17 22:19:51

anno I quiet often agree with Craig shame he has to be so blunt about it.

ninathenana Sat 30-Sept-17 22:17:35

Agree Jonnie was very good
Davood plays Kush in 'enders Blinko
Debbie was good again too.

annodomini Sat 30-Sept-17 22:17:11

For the first time ever, I agreed with Craig on his judgement of Ruth's Charleston which I thought was far from lively and he said lacked energy. I think she has less going for her than any of the other women.

Charleygirl Sat 30-Sept-17 22:09:58

I also thought that Jonnie Peacock was really good.

I doubt if their dancing will have anything to do with tomorrow evening's elimination. It will be the most unpopular, irrespective of marks. I am not sure who will end up in the bottom two.

Blinko Sat 30-Sept-17 21:22:06

Who's Kush??

kittylester Sat 30-Sept-17 21:11:28

Jonnie Peacock was fantastic as was kush! I love Susan Calman

And, I love Claudia - think I must be odd!!

Blinko Sat 30-Sept-17 21:08:35

Wasn't Jonny Peacock amazing?

ninathenana Sat 30-Sept-17 20:47:36

Alexandra shockshock
Fantastic.

MawBroon Sat 30-Sept-17 19:20:28

I think Kevin Clifton from Grimsby is just the NICEST person!
Not only is he a brilliant dancer , but an inspired choreographer who devises routines which enable his partners to show themselves off at their best.
He is also unselfish (unlike some) and doesn't dominate the dance, showing off as many do, but provides the perfect foil for his partner.
Plus he has the cutest cheekiest smile!!

annodomini Tue 26-Sept-17 18:29:25

Claudia's remuneration is not just for Strictly. She has presented the Film programme and also the Great British Sewing Bee on which I think she must be a major irritation for some of the contestants. Even so, I can't quite understand why she earns so much.

annodomini Tue 26-Sept-17 18:24:07

I think it was AJ who had his 22nd birthday during last year's series.
