Strictly's Back

I've just looked at the Strictly line up and wonder if I don't watch enough TV. Who ARE these 'celebrities'? On the picture grid I recognised 3 faces and one extra with a nudge from my OH. I could name only one off the top of my head, but another one because I'd just read about them in an article about Strictly where they were arguing about whether a gay woman should dance with a woman. (She didn't want to; she said she was there to learn to dance, not to make a point about her sexuality, but felt there was pressure on her from the LBTG group.)

I was weeping with Susan. Hope we see a lot more of her on the telly. flowers

BBbevan Sun 26-Nov-17 20:00:54

Well, how ridiculous. Susan and Kevin had no chance, and we all knew it. But what a lovely person Susan is. She won on personality alone in my book

hulahoop Sun 26-Nov-17 09:53:39

Thought joe was very good last night . Watching sue last night I think she fully expects to be eliminated this week and just went out to enjoy herself last night . Debbie was good but you can see she as been trained .

DanniRae Sun 26-Nov-17 09:40:43

I am not keen on Debbie or Alexandra - neither seem genuine to me. Especially Alexandra, I just feel that she is putting on a performance the whole time.
I really like all the rest and will be sad if Susan goes - her joy at dancing with Kevin is delightful to watch!

I can see Alexandra winning the entire show but last night's performance was certainly not her best. I agree, Susan will be going tonight but it is difficult to say who else will be in the bottom two. I think that Alexandra would get a shock if she found herself there.

I would love to see Joe and Davood in the final, both have made so much progress. I cannot take to Alexandra or Mollie- the former is trying too hard to win if that makes sense.

kittylester Sun 26-Nov-17 06:57:15

I thought you might like to see DGD4's reaction to hearing the news that Johnny had been eliminated!

ninathenana Sun 26-Nov-17 06:55:13

I agree unfortunately, Susan has done really well but her time is up.

Davood and Joe are great, I'd be hard pushed to choose.
As for Shirley, haven't liked her from week one.

BBbevan Sun 26-Nov-17 06:53:56

If Susan goes tonight it will be really sad. She has put her all into it and what a lovely person she is. I would like Mollie or Gemma to win .

kittylester Sun 26-Nov-17 06:51:19

I find it difficult to judge the dancers solely on the dancing and am swayed by my perception of their personality or story.

Hence, I love smiley Joe and Susan who both seem to be having a ball and trying hard. I also love Davood as he seems like a kind and gentle man.

I am thrilled that Debbie is enjoying herself and thought her Argentine Tango was brilliant.

Gemma is growing on me but I can't warm to either Alexandra or Molly.

Alima Sun 26-Nov-17 06:06:39

Strange you should say that Merlot, we were saying how we were warming to Shirley over the weeks. At least what she says comes from the heart as well as being knowledgeable. It is Bruno who gets on our nerves now.
Also think Susan will go this week. Be a shame, she has improved over the weeks and has been very entertaining.

merlotgran Sat 25-Nov-17 23:56:56

I'm fed up with Shirley. She's trying to be all the judges rolled into one. Standing up and waving her arms about was Bruno's party trick and I get the feeling she doesn't rate Darcy's opinions all that highly.

I didn't like Len either. Maybe I just don't like head judges? grin

Didn’t think Alexander’s rumba was up to her usual standard, in fact I agree with Craig and Darcy that it lacked something.

cornergran Sat 25-Nov-17 23:42:41

Yes, I also will be sad to see her go but I agree this is the last week for Susan. I’m frustrated by Debbie and Alexandra. They dance well, extremely well, but if both have had previous dancing training they haven’t achieved to the same level as those without previous experience. Davood or Joe for me, doubt the final will agree but time will tell. I find Shirley irritating, just too loud and certain or perhaps too much of a change from Len. Having said that a lot is irritating me at the moment so perhaps I should not judge the head judge too harshly.

Friday Sat 25-Nov-17 23:38:47

Almost certainly Susan’s time to go.

grannyactivist Sat 25-Nov-17 23:01:29

Sad though I will be to see her go I do think it should be the end of the road for Susan tomorrow. Mollie has found her personality and is showing a much more human side; Gemma's enthusiasm is translating into improved dancing; Alexandra and Debbie are incredibly proficient, but both have extensive professional dancing experience; Davood has done amazingly well - but I confess to having a real soft spot for Joe who is being transformed into a wonderful dancer.

paddyann Sat 25-Nov-17 22:41:09

wee smiley Joe was brilliant and such a modest man ,just gets on with it and seems grateful and happy to get anyones helpful comments .Hope he makes the final

POGS Sat 25-Nov-17 21:55:26

Blimey Debbie was fantastic!

I had to replay it for a second helping it was so good.

Sorry lovely Susan but I think you will probably go but if you do what a lovely dance to remember with Kevin.

hulahoop Mon 20-Nov-17 18:52:29

I agree moocow they have all progressed well Alexandra is used to doing dance/singing in musicals and she is too dramatic when judged , Debbie is very good but again even though she says she asnt done ballet for years she as had training .

Moocow Mon 20-Nov-17 17:30:48

Joe, Davood and Gemma, now that would be a great semi-final!

Lona Mon 20-Nov-17 16:56:42

I agree trisher, I thought she'd only had ballet training but it seems she's done far more dancing.
It's put me off voting for her.
Not sure who to vote for now.

trisher Mon 20-Nov-17 14:36:39

Perhaps people are reacting to the fact that Debby used to be a professional dancer. It certainly doesn't seem right that someone who has danced for a living should be allowed to participate in a competition where most people are amateurs with little dance experience.

Friday Mon 20-Nov-17 13:46:38

I remember Abbie Clancy once being in a dance off, and she went on to win. Just think Debbie’s routine wasn’t very memorable so she got less votes this week.

POGS Mon 20-Nov-17 12:55:07

I have been a fan of the lovely Susan but I think it was Susan or Johnnies time to leave sadly.

I still think it will be an Alexandra / Debbie final but having said that if Debbie was in the bottom two this week could 'personality' be a deciding factor ? Probably.

goldengirl Mon 20-Nov-17 10:28:56

Susan seemed surprised she was still in! Kevin said some really nice things to her about her dancing. She certainly gives it her all and must be an encouragement to other 'non' dancers to give it a try. I think she deserves 11 out of 10 for progress!
