I used to like the Marvel and other comic book Universes . I'm a huge fan of Star Wars and Buffy.
However I have become rather fed up with them - although I understand the new films are great.
My problem is that they now aim marketing at very young children. One of our DGCs became interested in them age 2 (as older brother age 5 was enjoying them). He then kept asking for lots of the toys. We didn't get any, but other GPs have bought huge amounts of plastic tat, which seems to take over the living room. I wouldn't worry, but the sheer amount of 'stuff' makes it difficult to move on to the next obsession. I don't think this is encouraging anything positive as he's really too young to get the stories, he just takes up poses and 'zaps' people. I joke to him 'Nannas are immune to your powers!' but I'm really getting quite fed up.
He might just be growing out of it, but parents have to make the decision to put the huge Bat Cave and Avengers lair (or something) in the loft - you can't just put them at the back of the cupboard! so it's rather spoiled them for me!
