Outlander series 2

Yes I watched it. I had also been waiting, as I believe it’s already been aired in the US a year or so ago!

I am enjoying it, which is strange as I don’t usually read ‘bodice ripper’ style novels. Must be the good looking men!

It is hard to predict the outcomes, twists and turn, except the outcome of Cullodon.

I love Outlander, I've read all of the books and watched all 3 series and can't wait for the next coming up in November (on Amazon Prime) It is such a wonderful love story and Sam Heughan who plays Jamie is very easy on the eye too
I wish the show was more popular in this country, no-one I know has heard much about it but it's huge in the US and abroad.
I think if Sky or ITV had bought the show, it would be rivalling Poldark.
They say tourism in Scotland has had a renaissance after the filming being done there with 'Outlander' tours and castles being visited which were used in the show etc

Oh dear, I'm way behind all of you - I only started watching series 1 last night!
I read the first four books many years ago, bought book 5 and got horribly bored with it because the level of detail was absolutely ridiculous and I felt the story was just never going to get anywhere - I'd wondered why this one was so much thicker than the preceding 4. I think Ms Gabaldon had got carried away and severely overdone the padding.
So I gave up. Hoping the TV series is an improvement - so far so good, but it's very early days...

Actually I'm mistaken - I've just checked the book lengths on Amazon and in fact book 3 is longer than book 5. So it wasn't "so much thicker" as my hazy memory told me . It was extremely tedious though.

Seemingly the series was supposed to air on BBC before the Scottish referendum and David Cameron had it cancelled as he thought it would affect the outcome .

I know what you mean about book 5 Bathsheba I put it down and picked it up for months and Diana Gabaldon is notorious for 'over- egging the pudding' in my opinion but I persevered and I'm glad I did, as the story got better and better.
I think the tv series is going very well, with the odd chopping out of bits and adding others, the story flows better. I can't see them including all of the material in the books, Diana's editors should have reigned her in a bit.

Yes they should have, Sassenach, I agree. She seemed to be trying to squeeze as many books out of her story as she possibly could - and I know of at least two other people on my social circle who gave up on the series because of book 5.

I do too lemongrove she had loved him before the dashing highlander stole her heart! (I can't say I blame her) but yes, poor Frank tried so hard but just couldn't measure up

I love the books especially all the details. I enjoy C J Sansom's books for the same reason.
Strangely the detail in Dicken's books I do find tedious,

Jamie is totally delicious, much better than I imagined!

Yes Pamela he's very swoonworthy isn't he? he's just as I imagined too, in fact they've done very well casting all of the characters really

Over the summer I’ve indulged myself watching to the end of Series 3! It’s on Amazon Prime, but won’t be out here on mainstream for a while yet.
I’m not going to give any spoilers, but some of the episodes were quite gripping.
I’m sure there’ll be a season 4.

I love the books and the series on Amazon Prime. I am now impatiently waiting for series 4.

For those with Amazon Prime the wait is almost over series starts on 5 November, hurray. ?

I thought I was waiting for Series 4 on Amazon Prime. Did I miss it? Have they finished 5 already? For those who like Scottish period drama, Netflix will be airing a new series, The Outlaw King in November, which is about King Robert the Bruce. He was Wallace's (Braveheart) contemporary but succeeded where Wallace failed. Has anyone seen the new Mary Queen of Scots film yet?

Series 4 is apparently starting on Nov 5th.

I've loved this series. Have had all the books as audio books and listened to them every night in bed. I particularly enjoyed the ones set in America.

Oh to be loved by a man such as Jamie with the tenderness and passion he shows Claire
