Grannyknot there is a lot of information on line and also a Podcast on Radio 5. It seems there was a DNA test and his sons and the birth daughters are not related but I agree they do look alike. Until the information about the death in Germany I felt he was being victimised as he had written articles criticising the local law enforcement. I also felt that the jury were swayed by his bisexuality and infidelity to his wife. I found it strange that the two adopted daughters seemed in thrall to him - lots of laughing between him and them and not much sign of mourning their adoptive mother but perhaps it was edited that way. I really don’t know if he was guilty or not.
Other information on line:
It was claimed his wife had an insurance policy of 1.3 million dollars, they had a six figure credit card debt and she was facing losing her job - she was the main bread winner. However the policy was taken out during her first marriage and her first husband and daughter from that marriage received the money. That daughter took out a law suit against him and was awarded 25 million but he was unable to pay anything as he was broke.
Despite his repeated claim that he and his wife had the perfect marriage and they were soul mates he had an affair with one of the researchers of the documentary. However all his children still seemed to adore him.
There is a theory that she could have been attacked by an owl.
There is a book about the case: Written In Blood.
It is a fascinating case.
J52 The Sinner sounds interesting. I will look for it later.
