I was another one who adored George and never forgave Patti for marrying him. Still can't really believe George has gone.

I loved this! Recorded it and marked it keep so DH can’t delete it.
It was televised on my 64th birthday so was delighted when Paul sang a snatch of When I’m 64 while in Forthlin Road.

Jane Asher was our style icon when I was at school. I used to take NME in to read with friends during lunch breaks and I remember us discovering, to our horror, a small comment in the gossip section that Paul McCartney was dating Jane Asher. shock shock

In the blink of an eye our idolising changed to fury. grin

I always called George 'my George'. I wish - or maybe not in the circumstances. Some members of my family still say 'I saw your George on TV last night'. I have read lots of the autobiographies, Patti Boyd, Marianne Faithful, Keith Richards etc and George was (allegedly) a naughty boy, even having an affair with Ringo's wife, Maureen (allegedly)!

DanniRae Tue 03-Jul-18 18:35:30

Shocked to hear George was a serial womaniser - he always seemed such a decent bloke (and he looked like my brother). I bet my Paul (as I thought of him then) wasn't like that!

KatyK Tue 03-Jul-18 16:25:37

Yes I saw that documentary merlot In Patti's autobiography she said George was a serial womaniser and Eric Clapton was the same. Patti couldn't have children and, whilst still married to Clapton, he was away on tour and he rang her and said he had 'good news' She said 'oh lovely. What news?' He said 'I'm going to be a father'. How cruel. Only her side of the story of course. Yes it was tragic to lose his son.

Did anyone see the documentary about Eric Clapton on Saturday night? I felt sorry for Patti Boyd as she was so loyal to George Harrison even though he treated her badly. I knew Eric Clapton loved her and wanted her to leave George but I didn't realise he hung on for so long.

Tortuous lives despite all their success. Glad EC is happy now after the tragedy of losing his little boy.

It was posted on MN last week.
I sent the link to DH, who is a big Beatles fan.

KatyK Tue 03-Jul-18 16:09:11

Yes. On the occasions I see Patti on TV, I still get a pang of envy! She stole my man grin I read her autobiography and obviously all was not what it seemed. The men she married treated her very badly apparently. Still back in the day, I didn't think of any of that. I wanted to BE her.

DanniRae Tue 03-Jul-18 16:04:48

Glad I am not the only one Katy - to be honest I still can't stand her now. My negative feelings towards her must have gone very deep? hmm

KatyK Tue 03-Jul-18 15:55:08

DanniRae I am ashamed to say that I hated Patti Boyd because she had George blush - in fact all the wives and girlfriends. I was SO jealous!

DanniRae Tue 03-Jul-18 15:51:43

I was told about this youtube video and I watched it yesterday (all my troubles were so far away..........). And I loved it. Paul was always my favourite - did any one else hate Jane Asher because she was his girlfriend?
I shall definitely watch it again and well done to James Cordan for making the video and being brilliant in it too!!

KatyK Tue 03-Jul-18 15:21:21

I saw it on youtube too. My sister told me about it and said 'you MUST' watch this. My nephews who, although being Beatles fans, don't like Paul for some reason, loved it too. We've been in his childhood home in Forthlin Road and John's, Mendips. Fascinating stuff (well to me anyway). I saw them several times in the '60s as I have harped on about before. George was my favourite. He spoke to me and a group of girls once. Well George spoke and I gawped smile

nanaK54 Tue 03-Jul-18 15:13:54

I loved it, yeah, yeah, yeah grin

merlotgran Tue 03-Jul-18 14:56:49

Thank you, KatyK and JackyB. Just watched this and yes it made me cry.

FAB. grin

JackyB Tue 03-Jul-18 14:17:06

I saw it on Youtube - just chanced on it the day after it was broadcast. It was brilliant. Brought tears to my eyes.

merlotgran Tue 03-Jul-18 14:02:35

When and where was it?

Chewbacca Tue 03-Jul-18 13:25:25

I watched it over the weekend and thought it was brillant too. Nice to see how Liverpudlians were so excited to see him back.

varian Tue 03-Jul-18 13:17:57

Altogether brilliant.

I can remember saying to a friend in 1962 "Have you heard this new group? They're good but they'll never get anywhere with a silly name like The Beatles"

I was wrong.

Blinko Tue 03-Jul-18 13:12:55

Must admit I enjoyed this one. Macca came across as relatively normal (for a highly talented multi millionaire). Brilliant teeth, I noticed, incidentally.

glammanana Tue 03-Jul-18 11:53:46

I just loved it as I am such a Beatles fan I have been since a young girl at school,my friends and I used to go to the Cavern after work in Bold Street Telephone Exchange we used to tell our mums we where doing an hours overtime at work then race down to see them when ever they where playing.Great times.

paddyann Tue 03-Jul-18 11:41:54

Not a Macca fan but it was very good .I like James Corden 's series of carpool ,its original and he has great guests

kittylester Tue 03-Jul-18 10:58:39

Paul was my favourite so I really, really enjoyed it. As did all 3 daughters who are very dismissive of my love of Macca!

Oopsadaisy53 Tue 03-Jul-18 10:55:50

It was excellent.

And I’m not really a lover of PMc. But I love the Beatles records.

Brought a tear to my eye!

KatyK Tue 03-Jul-18 10:53:14

Any Beatles fans out there smile Did anyone see this? I thought it was fantastic. Well worth a look if you are a Beatle nut like me.
