Have you seen The Butler on there fascinating look at the White House over several administrations and it relation to the Civil Rights Movement.

Just one warning -it's addictive and you think it will soon reach a conclusion- it doesn't. You start watching and then keep on!

It looks a very long series of episodes for one story, but I will give episode 1 a whirl. The trailer gave a good overview.

Yes I couldn’t stop watching it. When you get to the end of it there is a series of Podcasts on the BBC 5 Live website that give additional information. Like Making A Murderer it made me appreciate our judicial system.

I will also look out for The Butler as I am very interested in the Civil Rights movement in the USA. The episode on this from the documentary series The Sixties was excellent and led me to the film Selma.

Yes I did read that when I googled the case. There is also a book Written In Blood by Diane Fanning. I am on a waiting list to read it. Call me Puritanical but I was shocked to find out that he had a relationship with one of the.Researchers.. I’m not sure when as he spent time in prison. So much for his wife being the love of his life.

I shall look out for the book thanks Jane43. I didn't know about the relationship. The whole case is so complicated. The family seemed very close, but you never really know about these things.

If this has fascinated you as it has me I would recommend reading Written In Blood by Diane Fanning. I have only just started it but there is already so much detail about the autopsy report that points to the fact that she was attacked and beaten. For examples there were marks around her thyroid that are typical of strangulation and there was a bloody footprint on the back of her leg. None of this was mentioned in the trial part of the documentary, perhaps it was edited out. There is also information about the son Todd’s behaviour on the night of Katherine’s death.

I have borrowed the book from an online library archive.com. You usually have to wait for a book to become available but they notify you when it is and you have two weeks to read it on line.

I must try and get hold of it. Mind you I'm not sure I would believe a single thing that came out of Durham county. I'm not sure if he did it or not but I do think the justice system and the police there are incompetant at best and possibly corrupt.
