I enjoyed the beautiful scenery in the first one, but that definitely was all.
I found the rest of it cringe worthy.
I have a friend though who has already dropped into conversation that she would love to see the new film, so I may be going.
At least Cher can sing, if she is in it.

Obviously far from the only one, Oldwoman - I think I’ve found my people! I sat down to watch it on TV with a glass of wine and high hopes, as all my friends adored it. Good grief. The overacting, the caterwauling, the simpering ninniness of it all. Well, of the first half hour, which is all I managed. grin

You are not the only one, Oldwoman. I am going this week. Not because I am an ABBA fan but because everyone else is going and I don’t want to be left out! I am slightly annoyed with myself for getting hooked in by the hype. I feel that I am being brainwashed.? I saw the first film for the same reason and pretended to like it although the acting was ham and the singing was terrible. Still, it is harmless entertainment and I look forward to the feel good factor. ?

I loved the first one and can’t wait to see this new one . I will take my DGD’s smile

No Oldwoman you are not the only one, I was pleased I waited to see it on the TV and I could just switch off rather than walk out of the cinema.

No oldwoman I m with you all the way I haven’t bothered with the second one My best friend asked me if I d like to go with her as she loved the first one but I said no ( we are fine with understanding if one or other doesn’t fancy something) anyway she went with another friend and they were both very disappointed and said it wasn’t a patch on the first one in their opinion

Oh dear - am I the only one who thought the first film was awful and will not be rushing out to see the new one (grabs tin hat and ducks behind the sofa!).

I do agree with Blinko about seeking out films panned by critics - I find I usually enjoy the ones they hate.

Blinko Sun 29-Jul-18 08:03:29

PS: I did think Cher looked a bit creaky. Nothing wrong with the voice, though.

Blinko Sun 29-Jul-18 08:02:01

We saw it a few days ago and loved it. So has everyone I've spoken to about it who've seen it.

Naturally it has been panned by critics. No story line, B side songs, etc. etc. Load of miseries, all of em!

Maybe we should look out for films disliked by critics as a sure sign most of us plebs will enjoy them....

Amazing film, the director deserves an award for the excellent casting

How exciting Tanith although I think I would be twitchy if a family new baby was in a film. Great film though I thought it was brilliant

OldMeg Sun 29-Jul-18 07:33:34

Wow!

tanith Sun 29-Jul-18 07:32:36

I haven’t managed to get there yet but I will . The baby born to Donna is my nieces twin daughter, I have yet to find out quite how that happened! ?.

When I went to see the original by the finalé people were dancing in the aisles!
