I've been watching this off and on. Tonights was good, I especially find Jeanette Krankie hilarious. She's 70 and game for anything, and pretty fit too. She had me laughing out loud at tims.

I enjoyed it very much and thought all the people came across well but I especially liked Selina Scott and Stephanie Beacham.

I have enjoyd all the series. In the last one, Miriam Margoyles was quite crude at times but I thought she was a very kind, down to earth and honest person.

I thought that it would have been a nice gesture for them to have cooked a meal for the people whose place they were staying at - in fact last week when they came back with some food I think the family were expecting to be invited to share it - they sort of invited themselves to taste it. A cricket match didn’t really do it.

You are so right Liz!!! grin

Liz46 Sat 25-Aug-18 14:02:43

I loved the last programme - apart from Stephanie. There's always one isn't there? Last time it was Marian.

DanniRae Sat 25-Aug-18 13:50:20

I thought Susan George came over as very sweet but they didn't seem to show much of her. Just flippin Stephanie Beacham hmm

I enjoyed it. The editing was pretty obvious though. Clearly they like Syd Little best. Fair enough he seems a very nice chap. The Krankies were entertaining so they were shown a lot.
I was amazed at how brave Bob Champion was in allowing filming of his colonic irrigation!

Apologies wrong end of stick. Didnt read the post properly. Sorry ruby.

KatyK Sat 25-Aug-18 09:05:23

We watched the last one yesterday. The narrator is Tom Hollander.

rubysong Fri 24-Aug-18 21:17:56

I have tried Kitty but they only give the names of those who appear on screen.

kittylester Fri 24-Aug-18 21:10:38

Google it?

rubysong Fri 24-Aug-18 20:06:46

We are watching the big zoo programme on channel Five and having a difference of opinion. I say Selina Scott is doing the voice over (unseen) but DH days it isn't her. Can anyone back me up?

Liz46 Fri 17-Aug-18 17:19:42

Yes, I too thought that the Krankies and Sid Little would be awful but they aren't. Stephanie is getting on my nerves.

DanniRae Fri 17-Aug-18 17:06:51

Sorry to disagree JessK but I have enjoyed all 3 series. The only fly in the ointment was having to watch Marian Margolyles - I find her really unappealing. Such bad manners and a certain delight in being crude!

JessK Fri 17-Aug-18 09:45:59

This is a joy to watch. The group get on really well together and this series is much better than the previous one.

Diana54 i agree when i wa in India last year I felt that Delhi was like a huge construction site, the amount of building work that is going on there is amazing. As you said women and children in fact whole families living on the side of the roads, sleeping on the paths and then working on the building sites. When you get to the villages or the countryside it is such a different story.Having said that i loved every minute of it.

lemongrove Thu 16-Aug-18 21:31:01

I just regard this as a ‘show’ ( which it is) and not an honest look at somebody’s life and real feelings. They are old ‘pro’s’
Who know how to act to the camera.
The Indian scenery is very watchable.

Diana54 Thu 16-Aug-18 20:59:08

The first series was good but they have flogged it to death the directors are really struggling it maintain interest.
India is a place of contrasts, go to Delhi and you will see chaos, incredible wealth and beauty alongside absolute poverty.

Women reparing roads with children running alongside in the gutter, labouring carrying rubble in baskets on their heads.
Funny they don't show that side of India.

Luckygirl Thu 16-Aug-18 19:56:37

Poor Stephanie - she does not seem the least bit at peace with herself.

seacliff Thu 16-Aug-18 19:01:21

I never knew all that gossip about the Krankies from the past. However, they have stayed together for a long time, and seem very happy together.

I think this is a nicer group of people that some previous shows, and I love seeing the Indian life, although the roads are scary.

paddyann Thu 16-Aug-18 18:43:32

at least they were honest about itNiobe ,unlike some ,eg Jimmy Saville who pretended to be someone he wasn't while abusing children and vulnerable people. The Krankies were alwys "adult" humour, most pantomime is a bit blue it goes over the kids heads while the parents laugh their socks off

Niobe Thu 16-Aug-18 17:32:23

Not surprised the Krankies show was unsuitable for kids. I went off them some years back when they announced that they had an open marriage and both had had affairs and were into 'swinging'. Yuk!

sassenach512 Thu 16-Aug-18 16:06:40

I had to laugh when Selena, Susan and Stephanie chose to ride by car and didn't want to slum it with the others on that over-crowded train with the stinky toilet grin
Good on the others for mucking in and giving it a go.

DanniRae Thu 16-Aug-18 14:36:18

I am enjoying this programme too. I like Sid Little, Bob Champion, Pete from Eastenders, Stanley Johnson (I enjoyed it when he was in "The Jungle"). In fact all the men apart from the male Krankie. None of the women apart fron Susan George. Stephanie is so 'up herself', Selena is too irritating and the Krankie women is a real show off.
(I feel sure that there was a bit of a scandel regarding the Krankies years ago??)

seacliff Thu 16-Aug-18 11:43:45

Flexible, I didn't realise that was Pete Beale either! I'd never have recognised him. I looked him up, and he hasn't done much work at all since being written out of EastEnders, so I expect he's glad to get this job.

The Krankies had never appealed to me, but they are such a funny and loving couple on here, and I also like Sid. A very unassuming but likeable person.

I really like these programmes, when you can see a part of the real person, instead of their usual stage persona.

EthelJ Thu 16-Aug-18 11:35:05

I'm loving this series too. ( I also loved the previous one, including Miriam Margolyes who I loved smile)

I love seeing India but also enjoy getting to know the participants, this time I have been very pleasantly surprised by Sid Little. I didn't really like Little and Large but Sid comes across as a very nice person.

Even my husband has been enjoying this series , and when I put it on he said 'Oh no don't watch that its full of annoying people this year'. He soon changed his mind and although he has never liked the Krankies on TV they are his favourites of this years intake.
Just goes to show that our preconceptions are not always right.
