Does anybody watch the soaps?

OK guilty pleasure, I used to quite enjoy Corrie and Emmerdale. Both are utterly tedious and ridiculous now.

Who on earth writes this stuff?

I do still stick with Corrie as I have fond memories of watching with my parents and my children still watch it as well. The story lines are rubbish at the mo but I do like some of the characters. I like Roy, Tim, Tracey, Amy and Mary at the moment. The Liz- Hannah- Jim story has got to be the worst ever.

Have not seen a soap since I went back to work, after having DD2, in 1982! Too busy at 7:30 (they were on that time then? ) so never got back into them. My mum loved them all! I do listen to the Archers sporadically..catch up on Sunday sometimes then get into it again!

I watch Corrie, although it gets a bit daft.

Ice watched Stenders since the beginning and think it's a bit silly but I'd miss it if I didn't. Dd2 and I message each other about it while it's on!

I do watch Corrie and EastEnders but think some of the story lines at the moment are ludicrous.

No soaps for about 15 or more years.
No credibility.
Stopped watching Emmerdale when one of the many soap disasters was a plane crash complete with dead sheep that looked like they had been borrowed from Axminster carpets.

Loved watching Corrie with my mum during the Ena Sharples (sp?) and Elsie Tanner years.

Enjoyed watching Aussie soaps with daughter when she was a teenager.
Not sure if they are still on TV.

I watch Corrie and Emmerdale, I moan about the sometimes ridiculous story lines but still keep watching.

Favourite characters, Mary in Corrie and the Dingles apart from Debbie in Emmerdale.
Cannot stand Ken Barlow in Corrie or the new Hannah in Emmerdale.

Some of those "older " actors on Corrie should have stayed away. Embarassing.

Greyduster Sat 22-Sept-18 19:27:27

I’m afraid I don’t watch any of them now - the storylines are beyond ridiculous. I watched the first episode of Corrie and followed it religiously for years but no longer. Same with Emmerdale. Never was an East Enders fan.

Gave up eastenders last year after watching from the start in 1983 I think. I don’t miss it at all. Have never watched any of the others though my mum was a lifelong Corrie fan til dementia took over.

silverlining48 Sat 22-Sept-18 19:31:05

Listen to the Archers though.

I have watched 'Enders since 1985 and everyone thinks I'm mad!

Used to watch corrie, but have up due to story lines many years ago. I do however watch Doctors, ridiculous stories but I like it!

Jane10 Sat 22-Sept-18 19:54:50

Well I unashamedly watch Corrie, Eastenders and also Holby. Holby is the daftest of the lot!

Auntieflo Sat 22-Sept-18 20:47:13

No

kittylester Sat 22-Sept-18 20:51:53

Ooohhh, I forgot Holby. I live Holby!!

Melanieeastanglia Sat 22-Sept-18 21:06:58

I used to enjoy Brookside.

Years ago I watched Eastenders and Coronation Street but I began to find the story lines ridiculous and depressing.

NanKate Sat 22-Sept-18 21:20:40

It was such a relief when I stopped watching Corrie. IMO all the humour had gone and it was one crisis after another.

sodapop Sat 22-Sept-18 21:22:59

Me too Jane10 I know the story lines are often silly and depressing but I enjoy my fix. Still a bit of UK here in rural France.

Not since my mum died nine years ago. I used to watch with her. I found I could always pick up the plot from where I left it on my previous visit.....

Alima Sat 22-Sept-18 21:37:01

Went cold turkey on Corrie donkeys years ago. Still with Enders, it started in Feb ‘85 by the way. I think “fix” describes it beautifully.

callgirl1 Sat 22-Sept-18 23:10:26

I only watch EastEnders, Neighbours and Home and Away. I`ve never missed an episode of EastEnders from the start, if I can`t watch I record it. I watched Coronation Street from the first episode religiously for 10 years, then just stopped watching, around the time that Jack Walker died. Used to love Brookside till they took it off, saw every one of those as well.

cornergran Sat 22-Sept-18 23:54:34

Holby and Neighbours here. Haven’t watched Enders, Corrie or Emmersale for 25+ years although I loved them all when the family were young

Anniebach Sun 23-Sept-18 10:07:28

Watch Neighbours, not the british soaps
