I really like Simon Reeve and am very much enjoying this new travel programme to the shores of the many countries that border the Mediterranean Sea and not the usual tourist destinations. Libya featured last Sunday and the site of Leptis Magna is magnificent, my dad was lucky enough to see it when he was in that country during the war. It was heartening to see the brave local young men guarding it from any planned ISIS onslaught.

I agree with your remark POGS, his commentary is very balanced, particularly when he went to Gaza and we saw the unhappy plight of the fishermen who could only fish in a 6 mile zone from shore, the stocks were depleted and the only worthwhile fishing was 12 miles out, but they weren't allowed to go out that far, so their efforts were futile. Very sad

I think he has certainly homed in on some difficult political situations and it definitely reminds the viewer how and why it is so complicated trying to unite countries , cultures and people .

He is as you say a lovely chap , balanced and fair with his reporting.

I know from past threads there are other GN'ers who appreciate the Simon Reeve programmes but I just want today how much I have enjoyed his latest programme on ' 'Mediterranean'.

I thought his travels possibly took him to some of the most dangerous countries he has covered and I like the way he does not sugar coat his travels.

Like the' House of Assad ' documentary that quite rightly has a thread running ' Mediterranean with Simon Reeve ' is once again him at his best and well worth a viewing if you haven't caught it.
