Was looking forward to this, I know first episodes are mainly to introduce the characters but I really did have trouble keeping up. Female lead looks so much like Charlotte Church I thought she was going to burst into song? shall stick with it and see if episode two is more enlightening. Any body else watching?

I said to husband I hoped it would clearer next episode.

Luckygirl Mon 29-Oct-18 14:05:39

Nothing is ever clear with Le Carre - I think that is the point!

ninathenana Mon 29-Oct-18 14:28:48

That's what DH said Luckygirl
He enjoyed it. Not my cup of tea though.

I loved the Night Manager but this one I lost interest in the first 10 minutes and turned off, I suppose I should give it another try but we shall see.

Charleygirl5 Mon 29-Oct-18 14:51:30

I managed a tad longer tanith but I doubt if I will bother.

Fell asleep, even though I read the book and enjoyed it. Didn't warm to the female lead at all.

I struggled and gave up. I liked the night manager, but not this. Not sure if I will try again, as I don't enjoy Le Carre books. Shame, I need something good to watch.

Not my cup of tea either, I watched until the end of the episode. I don't think I will bother with the rest.

annodomini Mon 29-Oct-18 18:24:23

I know I must have read it at some time in the past, but I can't remember anything about it and last night's episode didn't stir any recognition. I will try the next episode but if that is still as opaque, I'll give up and maybe go back to the book.

I tried to watch it but fell asleep. I had recorded it so watched it again when I was less tired and became intrigued. I am now looking forward to the next episode. I have never fancied reading Le Carre.

I couldnt make head nor tail of what was happening, so i started to loose interest.
Stuck with it till the end and will probably try the next episode but not bothered if i miss it.

Gave up I’m afraid. Mr C tuned out before I did, unusual for him.

Pittcity Tue 30-Oct-18 07:33:23

I got lost too but it fell together a bit in the last minute when the two separate stories met.
Will stick with it but DH never manages to watch a series all the way through.

JessK Tue 30-Oct-18 10:34:52

Like others I got lost after about 15 minutes. I know Le Carre is a bit like that and hopefully things will improve but not sure whether I will bother with it again.

TerriBull Tue 30-Oct-18 10:59:40

It didn't have the immediate mesmerising opening episode that The Night Manager had, if I remember rightly. I do think some dramas need time to develop the plot and I will stick with it and reserve judgement until it has unfolded somewhat.

I had a bit of trouble keeping up too, but then I often do these days. Found it interesting enough to want to see the second episode though.
I usually record programmes I want to see. That way I don't miss them if I forget they're on and can play them back looking for clues to meaning if necessary!

Pittcity Sun 04-Nov-18 22:04:21

I think the actual story might start next week......very slow burning.

gulligranny Sun 04-Nov-18 22:31:20

DH and I looked at each other, scratched our heads and admitted that we were lost. We will give episode 3 a go but if it doesn't grab us then I think we'll be giving up.

Jalima1108 Sun 04-Nov-18 23:21:03

Did anything exciting happen?
I fell asleep

LullyDully Mon 05-Nov-18 08:12:51

Greyduster Mon 05-Nov-18 08:16:02

Bellanonna Mon 05-Nov-18 08:35:26

I gave up a third of the way through episode 1

Bellanonna Mon 05-Nov-18 08:36:08

We both gave up in fact

Teetime Mon 05-Nov-18 08:53:17
