What fashion items remind you of your parents?
Did anyone else watch the program about our future King the other night. I found it very entertaining and loved his story about the butcher and the black pudding. I felt he came across as a very nice person who is kind and thoughtful and his wife and sons, clearly love him very much.

I think using cars and trains to get to commonwealth countries would be a tad difficult .
Why should I mention his homes? I am not moaning sbout his wealth , he was born to the heir to the throne, I was born to a coal miners wife, neither he or I chose our parents.
He has a royal residence in London, his three other properties , one he inherited, one he bought and another bought is certaintly not large , it’s a renovated farm house ,a rather small farmhouse compared to other farms in this area.
I await your list of oversea trips taken for pleasure
I watched and also enjoyed the programme.
However the way Charles has behaved over the years you can clearly blame his mother. I have one picture transfixed in my mind and that was the Queen greeting her 4/5 ? year old son with a handshake after returning from one of her many trips. A handshake for goodness sake ! He was so small.
Definition of ‘snide’. - derogatory or mocking in an indirect way’
I asked a direct , straight question
Is flying the only way to travel - last time I looked cars and trains were also ways to travel. He’s a hypocrite - I notice you don’t mention his unnecessary number of unnecessarily large houses.
maryeliza, do list the places Charles flies to for pleasure not work.
‘The tables were reportedly decorated ? Must be true then.
‘Instances of HRH's love of luxury are too numerous to mention here, though it is difficult not to marvel at the fact that at one Highgrove dinner party, the tables were reportedly decorated with exotic flowers specially flown in from South Africa. Price: £100 a stem. Say what you like, he's really got this green living thing down pat.’
I expect they were very nice flowers
wildswan anyone is entitled to criticise your opinion and also your opinion that criticising= berating. And as for a poster snidely trying to draw an equivalence between a busy women driving to work and helpwith the childcare and this entitled man who travels far far more than he needs to and much of it personal. Also how much energy just today do you think is being used up heating his various very large homes? He’s a damn hypocrite about the environment
The Charles/Diana marriage debate will continue. I have one question , who said Charles was having an affair in the early days of the marriage ?
Framiload I totally agree with your post I think he had little choice in the Diana marriage and I think she manipulated a lot of things I think him and Camilla are delightful together and the boys seem to care for her and adore their dad
A lovely caring man out of all the Rotals I ve always liked him but after seeing this side of him I thought he was lovely A man before his time such a shame he will be so elderly to get the crown
I thought it was a lovely programme and that’s from someone who isn’t the least bit interested in the Royals
Oh dear, why can't certain people stop making snide remarks.
I enjoyed the programme and am pleased that for once the Prince of Wales commitment to his work came across strongly. Of course he lives a different life to many of us, but I also believe it is a much less "privileged" life than some celebrities and media moguls live. He does what he can to ensure he travels (on our behalf) in a way that is as less damaging as possible to the environment. He has raised two young men who have served their country well. He has had his personal troubles, which of us haven't.
I wish our monarchy to continue. I know some people think it is outdated and unnecessary, but I am entitled to my opinion without (please) being berated for it.
No Gilly, not fond of him, I will not and cannot compare my life of poverty to his life of wealth , he does his work I do mine. I do respect him for his dignity, I feel sorry him for the constant critcism thrown at him which he has to take because his job demands this of him .
Oh dear. Not sure what to say really Annie except there really is no comparison. But never mind, I know you are quite fond of Charles so I will just leave it for now.
Yes Gilly, because you have to, you have no choice, same for Charles when he has to fly abroad , no choice . Should the royals travel by rowing boat ?
In all fairness I don’t think you can compare my driving to work and prince Charles lifestyle (and all the royals to be fair) in any way Annie if I did not drive it would effect too many peoples lives.
Almost every morning I drive my 2013 car to the next town, pick up 3 children (at around 8.15 am) I drop one at her friends house where she then walks to her secondary school, I then hit the country roads to get the other 2 to school (miles away) by 8.50. (We often cut it very fine) I then drive about 8 miles to work. I do the same in reverse at tea time (sometimes do it with a 6 month baby in tow). So in answer to your question Annie yes I do drive.
But not before saying ab that it’s a nasty cheap comment about how gilly goes to work especially as we know that she works incredibly hard and her family couldn’t manage without so just stop with the snide comments
Framilode. No flack from me , I agree with you
For the sake of my sanity I shall leave this thread now - fancy a coffee gilly?
Gilly, do you walk or drive to work ?
I’m tired of the Princes Trust being wheeled out every time as an example of good work he’s done- there are many many people who do good work day in day out with none of his unearned advantages - if the PT is the best justification we can come up with for this waste of space heaven help us.
I enjoyed it. I have always liked Charles and think he has been unfairly treated in the past.
The marriage of Charles and Diana was a disaster and should never have taken place. I do think he tried in the marriage but it was never going to be successful.
He went back to Camilla but Diana also had many lovers and played the press. In my opinion she was a bit of a stranger to the truth and painted a picture of him that wasn't true. She was beautiful and a brilliant actress and got most of the press on her side.
I think he will be a good king and Camilla a good queen.
Waiting for the flak...
I have to agree with you there paddyann and maryeliza How hypocritical for “one” to preach about the environment and enjoy the lifestyle of fancy cars and air travel as he does. They’re all the same. Don’t do as one does, do as one says.
Hi Annieb. I meant that he is being presented in the best possible light in anticipation of attaining the throne in the not very distant future. The favourable PR will also serve to counter the bad press he's received in the past, especially during Dianagate. Btw, I too think he's done some very good work via the Prince's Trust.
