Did anyone else watch the program about our future King the other night. I found it very entertaining and loved his story about the butcher and the black pudding. I felt he came across as a very nice person who is kind and thoughtful and his wife and sons, clearly love him very much.

I have just re-read the transcript and can attach a link to it here Annie if you like, so don't accuse me of repeating an untruth.

Lancslass1 Sun 11-Nov-18 17:53:50

Anniebach I saw the episode recently again on the TV .
I need say no more.
I rest my case.

Anniebach Sun 11-Nov-18 18:01:10

I say it because it is true , listen to it ,

he did say ‘God forbid coming back as a tampon, just my luck.

My luck to be chucked down the lavatory and go on and on forever, swirling around at the top , never going down

Sorry re my previous message I was referring to the meeting on the railway station where the Queen shook hands with whoever was meeting her before giving her small child a hug.
As I said earlier ,the Queen Mother should have taken him first onto the train to see his mother briefly before the Queen left it.

And I rest my case

shock that doesn't sound a whole lot better, to be honest.
Still, it was a private conversation and should have stayed as such.

Anniebach Sun 11-Nov-18 18:10:03

What matters is the untruth keeps being repeated. I think it awful that it was made public, just as was Diana’s and James Gilbey’s Squidgy tape

Sparklefizz Sun 11-Nov-18 18:10:42

You are nitpicking Annie.
As MissA says, reading the whole text through, it doesn't sound a lot better. It's more like something one can imagine Kenneth Williams saying to Barbara Windsor in a Carry on film.

^Charles: Oh Stop! I want to feel my way along you, all over you and up and
down you and in and out...

Camilla: Oh!

Charles: Particularly in and out!

Camilla: Oh. that's just what I need at the moment.^

I mean, honestly!

Blinko Sun 11-Nov-18 18:14:24

Is this thread actually going anywhere...?

Lancslass1 Sun 11-Nov-18 18:16:50

I have read nor want to read that particular tape .I only read a few lines just now before I realised that Prince Charles would never have said "he might of" instead of "he might have".
I was hoping that it might have been the Railway station clip you had Anniebach and then I could have watched it again and apologised if I was incorrect in what I said.

Lancslass1 Sun 11-Nov-18 18:17:56

That should be I have not read......

missdeke Sun 11-Nov-18 18:22:13

Having read all the differing views on this thread I just thought I would like to add my own. I am a big fan of our Royals, they are part of the history and rich heritage of our wonderful country. I am glad that Charles married Diana as without that marriage there would not have been our lovely princes. I'm more than glad that he has now married the love of his life Camilla, it's great to see him so happy and content with his lot. I am sure he will make a great king when his time comes as will William when it is his turn. But for now long live Queen Elizabeth, she does a grand job and her stamina during what must be very tiring engagements amazes me.

travelsafar Sun 11-Nov-18 18:23:56

missdeke well said.

Anniebach Sun 11-Nov-18 18:26:37

How some enjoy the public humiliation of another human being.

I so agree missdeke

NoddingGanGan Sun 11-Nov-18 18:39:04

The marriage of Charles and Diana was never going to be a success. What kind of man accepts a present of cuff-links engraved with his and his ex's intertwined initials on the eve of his marriage to another woman and what kind of woman gives such a gift on such an occasion??

He was grown up, practically middle aged, as was horse face. Diana was 19. That's little more than a schoolgirl. Sure she had problems and demons and living with her must have been a drag but Charles went into it with the knowledge that he was in love with another woman and Diana was duped.

No time for the man and will never call him, "Prince" or, "King" no matter how much they tart him up and parade him on T.V.

Anniebach Sun 11-Nov-18 18:55:40

Most strange the press have never taken a photograph of him wearing those cuff links , but the only person who saw them was his wife , mmmmm

annep Sun 11-Nov-18 19:20:11

I'm not a royalist but we all say things privately that we wouldn't want repeated.

Sparklefizz Sun 11-Nov-18 19:21:36

As usual, Annie, you have to have the last word, and now you are insinuating that the cufflinks didn't exist. You haven't checked your facts. There are many photos of the cufflinks online and articles about them.

Prince Charles' cuff links from Camilla before his marriage to Diana. He constantly wore these cuff links right from the honeymoon and thru the years of their marriage.

As you will no doubt want to have the last word yet again, Annie, I am signing off now.

Anniebach Sun 11-Nov-18 19:24:21

How strange, it looks like the letter C

merlotgran Sun 11-Nov-18 19:36:52

Another myth story doing the rounds was that Princess Diana happened upon a bracelet Charles had bought for Camilla engraved with G & F - Gladys and Fred, their pet names for eachother.

Nothing to do with cufflinks.

Craftycat Sun 11-Nov-18 19:39:39

I just hope I live long enough to see William crowned.
I have no time at all for Charles. Selfish pompous man.

SunnySusie Sun 11-Nov-18 19:41:43

I think Charles does a good job, as do the Royals in general. Personally I cant think of anything worse than being born into that kind of position, all those tedious long ceremonies, giving speeches at banquets, endless travelling, being obliged to hold long polite conversations with dignitaries from all over the globe, constantly having to dress up and look flawless. Not to mention having to work until you drop. I have only seen the Queen and D of E once when they visited my workplace and it was one of five visits they were doing that day, it was throwing it down with rain and they spoke to endless people in the crowd outside - all this when they were both in their mid to late 80s.

icanhandthemback Sun 11-Nov-18 19:42:50

Whatever did or didn't happen with cufflinks, conversations, etc, the fact is that Charles and Diana did not act as if they believed in the sanctity or marriage, broke their vows, and embarrassed their children. Even if you don't take their ages into account, the monarch is the head of the Church of England and surely you would expect the person who undertakes that role to take the vows they made before God in church, seriously?

manma2 Sun 11-Nov-18 20:11:39

I have always admired Prince Charles he always does his best sometimes he gets it a bit wrong ....he is human after all ....but he does do his best

Anniebach Sun 11-Nov-18 20:22:15

Diana said the cuff links had their initials entwined she also said she and Charles were very happy together in 1984. Later she said the greatest love of her life was Barry Manakee, 1984. Poor woman.

For me the villain in these whole tragic time was .johnnie Spencer .
