There is a programme on BBC4 on Friday evening about the Carpenters.

Karen had simply the absolute best pop singer's voice ever - superb and a joy to listen to.

So sad that her parents favoured big brother and failed to recognise her talent.

These are my left-field choice Carpenters favourites:

Now

I Believe You

Can’t Smile Without You (Yes they did do it before Barry Manilow)

Bless the Beasts and the Children

I love the Carpenters ,we had" We've Only Just Begun" as our first dance at our wedding in 1975 and I always play it on our anniversary. She had a fabulous voice .If you haven't heard a singer called Rumer have a listen she's very similar you Karen Carpenter

Hope you enjoyed it Brunette10 - I missed it but have several CDs so I didn't miss out. I love the sound of the Carpenters - Karen had such a velvet smooth voice and died so tragically.
