We Are Displaced is a new book about the refugee and migrant experience written by Malala Yousafzai, winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014. The book is “part memoir, part communal storytelling” and draws on visits that Yousafzai made to refugee camps. It tells the stories of the people she met there, blending them with her own experience of adjusting to a new life and being cut off from the home she had loved. The first part tells of the events that drove from her home in Pakistan, and how she came to be in a hospital in Birmingham.
As good a reason for a second cup of tea in bed as any. But seriously, unmissable.

I will see if this is on BBC Sounds, it should be. I think Malala is an inspiration to young women. Thank you for the alert.

I saw her interviewed on TV the other morning. She said she really loves Birmingham and called herself "a Brummie".

I just listened to this on the BBC Sounds App. It is very moving, read beautifully by Malala. I must get the book.

There is also another programme on there - Malala’s Diary which I listened to as well. Extracts from her diary are read by British schoolgirls in support of Malala.

I saw that interview too Sparklefizz. She is at Oxford University now and when the interviewer asked if her room was tidy she said it was but her mother tells her when it gets untidy.

She is a lovely and highly intelligent, courageous and amazing young woman, and should be a total inspiration to girls today instead of the rubbish reality TV stars they all try to emulate. I will get her book.
