Oscar Winning Films

Haven’t seen one of the films nominated this year , I remember Ghandi winning ,I think, eight

I am delighted for Olivia- anyone who can blow a raspberry at the Oscar's gets my vote anyway. Thoroughly deserved I expect although I have not yet seen the film.
I could not sit through La La land & I found the language in 3 Billboards too much for me & I am not a prude at all.
I think they churn out too many films now rather than go for quality.
I wish they made more films like Lawrence of Arabia or The Sting. Something to really get into & want to watch more than once.
Having said that I loved The Greatest Showman!

Schindlers List was the film that stuck in my mind and well worth the Oscar that it received.

I didn’t see The Favourite but friends who did reviewed it as either ‘OK’ or ‘Filth!’ so I don’t know what to believe. I loved Green Book though.

I enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody once it got going. I find Olivia Coleman irritating - she's a good actress but why can't she prepare an acceptance speech? Is she only coherent when reading lines?

The Oscars is all nonsense really because everyone has different tastes. These people are chosen for a part because they are considered suitable, they get paid millions, so you expect them to perform to the best of their ability. Why should they should be honoured for doing what we pay them to do? After all, it is us, the public, who decide which are the best films by the choice we make when going to the cinema.

Everyone I know who saw the Favourite thought it was dire I went with my friend but the projector broke down so luckily I didn’t waste my money
I can’t bear the Ocars or other hugely materialistic show off honours ceremonies and I find the speeches incredibly trritating I can’t bear to watch them gushing ridiculous nonsense but you can’t miss the bits and bobs that come up on the news
Then I saw Kim Kardashian on my iPad news feed with a dress nay not a dress a bit of clothe that literally cut her t... in half
It’s all horrendous The thousands and thousand given away in goody bags it’s all so offensive

I really enjoyed The Favourite but as a screenplay it wasn't fantastic but Olivia Colemans performance was. The Oscars are 'political' aren't they. Poor Glen Close 7 times nominated - a wonderful actress but no tiara!

I haven't seen The Favourite, undecided whether to go, but I loved Olivia Colnman's speech, it was so natural. I really don't think she expected to win, and the way she acknowledged those who had not won in her speech was a kind thing to do.

I hate the hype of the Oscars, they are, after all only doing their jobs in the same way that postmen, teachers, lawyers and colorectal surgeons do (just a random selection!) but it is only media stars who get the expensive goody bags and fawning interviews. All power to her, makes me proud to be British!

Well we are all different I thought her speech was awful so silly and gushing and irritating

I'm glad the actor from Green Book won best supporting actor; well deserved. Find it slightly annoying that a film can win an Oscar for best film when it came from Netflix, given that things like Netflix stop a lot of people from going to the cinema. I also can't buy Roma on dvd because of that.

I have always enjoyed Olivia C's work but I agree with others who found her speech at the Oscars ( and also the Baftas ) remarkably immature, irritating and downright silly. Haven't seen The Favourite but probably will.

I enjoyed the Favourite and it made me want to go and read about the history behind it. Hats off to Olivia Coleman. She was great in Les Miserables too.

I have loved most things Olivia has been in and think she's really good. I think with her speeches, she's trying hard to be different..I don't think she pulls it off.

I think that childish, false modesty speech did her more harm than good.
As least we now know that she is a very good actress as we've seen her in very adult roles when in reality she's very childlike.

But it isn't false modesty. With Olivia Coleman it's very much whatyouseeiswhatyouget. She was lovely in Who Do You Think You Are,

The best Oscar speech ever. Shirley MacLaine just grabbed the Oscar with a brief "I deserve this" and with that got off the stage. Excellent

I saw The Favourite and thoroughly enjoyed it! I also enjoyed Green Book .
Have not seen Bohemian Rhapsody, though might see it on small screen.

Terribull speech is a bit of an exaggeration for what Shirley MacClaine said! and a bit rude!

Oh I don't know PECS honest at least, maybe a tad ungracious but really.......the blubbering and thanking everyone and their cat goes on too long and at worst can be utterly naueasting. Gwyneth Paltrow springs to mind, not only did she grizzle when she won the Oscar for Shakespeare in Love, but her hair had been styled to look like Hitler's so it was a double horror Anyway she's not done anything memorable since.

Olivia Coleman’s speech was so over the top, what on earth did the fact she use to be a cleaner have to do with her winning an Oscar.

I hated The Favourite and I agree that Olivia's speeches were awful.

And what was with the faux fainting when her name was called. Did nobody tell her that she'd been nominated.
That wasn't her best performance
